A lot of the drama around Fluke seems to me to be around existential questions (what is a Fluke?). These often come up based upon the way the market has changed over time. Fluke is a brand tightly tied to safety, which is certainly a factor for buyers making a living off their multimeter since staying alive is a key part of the equation. However, something Fluke does to service the institutional market which doesn't always present an obvious value to the retail buyer is that they've maintained stability in their products/models over time to allow corporate and government buyers to build standards around their meters. Additionally, Fluke's market differentiators has historically incorporated a couple of other noteworthy features:
Lifetime warranty
Made in USA
Fluke unsurprisingly manufactures the bottom end of their 100-series in China. Similarly, they've restricted warranties on these to as little as one year. At the same time, Fluke doesn't fail to build into these units the basic safety considerations which are hallmarks of their products.
So is a Fluke 107 still a Fluke? For some of those for whom safety might be a primary concern and the price point isn't, this model of Fluke has merit. Others might justifiably argue against paying Fluke prices if you aren't even getting Fluke mainstay features like the two additional bullets I laid out above. The good news for everyone is that there are plenty of valid choices assuming trade-offs are taken into consideration.
Good luck!
Jon

The reason you buy a fluke is not because it is better, but because it is easier to justify when going through testing. The name holds a lot of weight.

For those that dont know what we are talking about: Fluke makes models for the chinese markets. They are lower priced than american market. Got my 18b+ for $120 4 years ago. Dont know what they cost now.
Chinese crap can easily be off by a few ten millivolts out of the box. I wouldn't trust the values beyond 1 decimal point (or 2 significant figures) and certainly won't adjust other instruments with it.
This one might be ok, and the board is actually made specifically for fluke so at least we can rule out careless design in Chinese crap brands. Material-wise, it's a $20 meter, but Fluke's backing is worth another $70 if you need it.
I've had a few of the HF meters and they're great for low voltage, but I stopped using them as they're not safe... Fluke had a safety video showing those exploding in flames when exposed to the maximum voltage HF rates them for. Plenty of $20+ meters that are safe and have better specs.
