Anyone have any thoughts on this? I need a new Thinkpad and I'm debating it.

If you do any color sensitive work (e.g.,editing photos) the screen is subpar at 45% NTSC.

I don't use it for anything like that and I'm unfortunately familiar with Lenovo's poor display choices. Hopefully it's not too bad.

I'm more interested in a good deal for a solid laptop.

8GB RAM on a PC is a concern to me.

You don't want to pay that much money for an outlet laptop with an intel & just 8gb of memory. Yes Lenovo thinkpads have great build quality but is this a joke or am I missing something?

They have a cheaper P14s Gen 2 With AMD and 16gb of RAM.

In my opinion, it's never a good deal w/o a good screen. That is priority #1

I think that this laptop has 2 RAM slots, but one is soldered. So, you can add more RAM.

Having said that, I completely agree with you. 8 GB of RAM is underpowered for many users. Because of this, I really hope that the framework laptop takes off (https://frame.work/). I just hope that either framework, or the community, can develop a thinkpad style keyboard.

Well, wow. 🤯 Thanks for the reference to Framework. I'd never heard of it. Looks awesome at first glance. Every few years I build a desktop PC, but now that my kids are pining for laptops I've been underwhelmed with the off the shelf options. I'm excited to explore what they have to offer. Thanks!

Never heard of Framework but I hope it succeeds. How thin and light are their laptops?
Their expansion bays remind me of the old thinkpad days (pre-Lenovo when they were made in US). They had expansion slots just like this but back then laptops were heavy and not as svelte.

Is anything wrong with a Thinkpad Outlet laptop? As you say "don't want to pay that much for an outlet laptop". I assume they are the same quality as the ones sold on regular website. Thanks.

I said WITH an INTEL & 8GB of MEMORY.

They had a similar model with a faster CPU and twice the RAM for less money. Thats why I asked if the post was a joke.

If your only option is to buy a laptop with 8gb of RAM go ahead, you will survive. But if you are buying a laptop with soldiered ram you really want 16gb of RAM.

What is right or wrong can be subjective. Some people only buy new cars and some people only buy used.

The Lenovo NEW website currently has a very similar laptop with far better specs for $150 more. Slickdeals currently has a new Lenovo P14 for $80 less. Also Lenovo offers better support options for New products if thats something you care about.
