Update: Bostonyankee's suggestion about account managers (on page 6 of this discussion) worked for me.
My 12 month required service with Verizon(for previous gift card promotion) is ending soon. Probably won't stay with verizon just for this promotion. But if you're with verizon anyway, this seems to be a great deal.

Shout out to OP as well as the mention of the $25 GC in the thread. Just sorry I missed the 1 year free AMC+ giveaway that some mentioned.
- Logged in as my wife (who is also a "manager" for our VZ account)
- Followed the offer link, which worked this time.
- Started the Duolingo subscription via +Play, at which point it offered to connect to Netflix account to switch to the free year (which went without a hitch)
There was/is one snag though: I had an already cancelled Super Duolingo subscription which hasn't expired yet - when I tried to connect to Duolingo from Verizon, it didn't work (Duolingo complained the offer was not for current Super Duolingo users). So, I ended up creating another Duolingo account (will try to merge it later on). But now VZ no longer gives me the activation link :-) so it's time to hit VZ customer support once again... Which is what I'm doing right now. So that the helpful and professional VZ agent could offer me the following insightful help: "You can learn languages on Duolingo completely free. You can use it on your computer and sync it with our free apps for your mobile device. You can even use Duolingo for Schools if you have students to track—with the same account.
