Wow that worked! I will rep. you. In case the SD link above doesn't work, after you login as SmartSeed says, copy and paste this URL in your browser. https://tps.fidelity.com/tps-api/v1/redirect-to/turbo-tax-cd?fidelityContextCode=oltx
Then I logged into Intuit. It showed up as $105, but I did the trick someone else suggested to add a random Intuit product to the cart, then delete it. Then I was able to check out for $5.41 (tax in TX).
i got so many messages about this. let me answer you all here once in for all. you need to go the beta view to see the offer.
I have the premier offer under the beta view, but when I click to the turbotax website it still gives me only $20 off, even though fidelity says premier for free w/ state. Called Fidelity, they know about the issue and said to wait until the new year as they are working on the problem.

If you do not see a card on the Fidelity homepage for free Turbotax, then you aren't eligible. Don't drive yourself crazy trying to figure it out. For every proposed threshold (Active Trader, Private Client, got the big bucks in non-qualfied accounts, use an advisor, etc. etc.), there are always data points demonstrating that isn't the right criteria.
Or you could spend the $22.50 and not beg people for a free lunch. It's an itemized deduction anyway. I've been in a Private Client for decades and never get this offer. I just by HRBlock off of whatever SD vendor is cheapest.

This worked for me. I did not see it until I got into the beta view. Thanks. And rep to Bogleheads indexfundfan who posted this where I saw it first (not sure who was first). And Bogleheads indexfundfan posted this link might help you find the download versions once you get click through fidelity and get logged into turbotax. I bought both the windows and Mac versions for 10 e-files total for family use for $10+tax.
How do you download the software? I got the offer, click the link, login with an existing TurboTax account credentials and only see the online version. Clicking on the links on the thread brings me to the same online version page.
I've always gotten the download version in past years for free. How does the online compare, now that the download isn't free?
Same question. I've used the download version since almost 10 years now. I don't mind paying $5 for it, but if the online version is as good as download I'd like to know. I don't do multiple e-files, so the benefit of 5 free e-files with download version is not worth anything to me.

Even when it was a deduction, it was considered a miscellaneous deduction subject to the 2% floor so most people weren't eligible for it.
