Wow that worked! I will rep. you. In case the SD link above doesn't work, after you login as SmartSeed says, copy and paste this URL in your browser. https://tps.fidelity.com/tps-api/v1/redirect-to/turbo-tax-cd?fidelityContextCode=oltx
Then I logged into Intuit. It showed up as $105, but I did the trick someone else suggested to add a random Intuit product to the cart, then delete it. Then I was able to check out for $5.41 (tax in TX).
i got so many messages about this. let me answer you all here once in for all. you need to go the beta view to see the offer.
I have the premier offer under the beta view, but when I click to the turbotax website it still gives me only $20 off, even though fidelity says premier for free w/ state. Called Fidelity, they know about the issue and said to wait until the new year as they are working on the problem.

The normal TT allows for 5 free Federal online filings. But state is NOT FREE. The the cost varies by state. Will the $5 download allow me to file say California for free?
No, state efile is not included for the download version.
Dang, already bought TurboTax as I didn't qualify in the past.
I clicked on the link at Fidelity and was redirected to Intuit's web site. It said I file Federal and State for free online or with a $5 download.

Thanks.
The download version gives you the access to the forms for 1 state, which you can print for free or pay an additional fee to e-file the state forms (federal e-file still free). This is how TT CD/download always works (unless it's Deluxe without state). The online versions are priced differently. Given their deceptive practices in the past, I can't help but wonder if this confusion is intentional.
But my niece can probably use it as she needs a different state than I.
If I buy the $5 download copy, am I simply given the activation code that I enter in later? The normal activation code allows me to install it one 5 computers and do 5 free federal filings?

So if I buy the $5 activation code \ download, will I be able to use my state (Pa) even if other 4 copies already activated and used different state(s) ?

If Yes, I'd like to get one.
thanks.
you will have to install the copies on different PCs with possibly different activation codes - I am not sure Fidelity monitors how many times a client downloads through the free link

Fidelity has nothing to do with it once get to the TT site. TurboTax allows the software to be installed on five different machines, and each machine can select a different state.

Are you talking about buying a code from someone here or directly from TurboTax? If the latter, who installed the other four copies?
Mine still only shows a $20 discount instead of Premier being free. Has anyone gotten it to work for them?
Yes, plenty of us. Should you qualify for the free copy from Fidelity? And everyone gets the $20 discount, the free/$5 copy shows up on your Portfolio age.

Ya, it's on beta mode, but the promotion box is now gone. If I go to the tax forms link, it only shows the $20 off deal.
The free offer is never on the tax forms page. Had you clicked on the free link when you had it? If so, did you try going back to turbotax.com to see if the offer is still there? That assumes that you did not click on the $20 off link.
