Remember that it's the license owners here in the USA making the actual decisions on how/whether to make the products cheap or not. Factories abroad are just following orders (usually cost): Remember that the iPhone is made in China by the same principles.
@QueensGambit, Google "Christmas Gnome" and you'll find that it's a feature of THAT, covers the eyes and sits as a decor item. There's even another Grinch Gnome that looks better IMO (no skin, all beard)
