Qualifying grocery stores sell a full line of fresh and packaged food, usually with a limited selection of other household items.
Some merchants that sell grocery items do not qualify, such as warehouse clubs, discount stores, drugstores, smaller markets, convenience stores, delis, specialty food stores, butchers, farmers' markets and meal kit delivery.
Grocery delivery merchants will qualify if they classify as a grocery store. Chase cannot guarantee the delivery of alerts for this offer.

It's got to be coded as a grocery. Stores that sell a ton of shit aren't going to be "grocery". If you really care about it you can look up merchant codes but for $5 I'll just go blow it at a place I know that's a grocer.
The tricky one is Walmart. I've seen the same Walmart here in Miami code as grocery or non-grocery on Chase, depending on which checkout lane I use.

That finding was great because during the Chase grocery quarter I was receiving 5% back on everything I purchased, as long as I used those two left lanes. I remember buying pool shock and you name it.
But once that side closest to the grocery section turned into self check, now I'm stumped. The regular checkout lanes no longer code as grocery. When I use self check registers, sometimes they code as grocery and sometimes they don't. I've used the same register with opposite results.

Costco doesn't code as groceries
It was my chase freedom unlimited; chase Marriott Bonboy & chase sapphire reserve.
Also check doordash under checkout with chase sapphire reserve. I got $10 off for next three orders using reserve until 01/06/23. It maybe ymmv but worth trying.
