FYI, if you grab the simpsons cabinet ($199 currently) you can add endless games to it. For an additional $230 or so you can have a new deck with 6 buttons for each player and then you can add in blitz.

tl;dr for $130 more and about 2 hours worth of your time you can have a way better setup with thousands of games installed, but with simpsons graphics instead of blitz graphics and you won't have a stool.

Agreed, everyone says how it's so easy, and so fast, but they only link a youtube video that leaves out a ton of steps. Like windows loader, how to use retroarch.

I wish someone would spend an hour making a complete write up, considering how often it's mentioned here.
Exactly this. Either I'm getting old (which I am) or everyone else is more capable than me (also may be true), but I have yet to see a very simple guide for newbies. Heck, I'd even pay for a simple step by step guide from A to Z.

Lmao, I've built several computers and I'm even decent with android, I can't imagine how difficult it is for people who aren't familiar with android.
I got everything loaded, but accessing the games and remapping buttons, and using retroarch is not an easy task. "Windows loader" also never worked for me. I've tried Dig and Mame and nothing is intuitive or standard.

I'm going to avoid all arcade1up purchases until Dec from now on... Bought many cabs around 399 sales and now they are 199....Bought Blitz at 389 and now it's 299 with a stool. Sad
Good point. Anecdotally, I've purchased a few over the last several years and each time have noted a significant drop between Black Friday and Christmas. Particularly at Sam's Club. Perhaps it's because they're big/bulky items and as Christmas shopping season winds down they're looking to start clearing shelf space.

Can you please link the video that shows how to load content to retroarch? Or how to remap the controls to work with the stock joystick/two buttons? Maybe you have to have dig to make it easy but as someone who is not familiar with retroarch. Lean Homes videos do not give some details for a novice unless I overlooked something.
Your questions are all about how to use the retroarch api. There are tons of tutorials on youtube.
To load games into retroarch, you simply open the menu, click on import content, and scan the directory of ROMs saved on the SD card.
To remap controls in retroarch, you simply open the menu, click on controls and then Port 1 controls and list of options appear to map the buttons.

It is literally 3-4 clicks for each task you listed. Both are extremely easy.

I do not think Dell comes with Stool so doubtful. I have $150 giftcard from this simpson one so I am waiting for something on Dell.

I am in same boat as you. I did adde retroarch and installed MAME and got some test games running (Metal Slug) but struggling with remapping controls. This is more of a pain than I was expecting but one day I will get there. I am tempted to wait until I can get the deck with the 6 button layouts so I can play almost any game but then I am not sure if I want to invest another $200 in to end up struggling to mode. I need to find a tutorial for armatures that shows very detailed steps as I am new to using retroarch.
To add to this for my fellow slickdealers with a massive tool collection from here: you can get a "Pandora's Box' from ebay for $80-140ish depending on how many games which is basically a dual arcade controller top with an HDMI hookup. I have one and am planning on building my own cabinet from plywood. This gives you lots more options like say you want to do a countercade or something. Don't necessarily fall into the '8000' game trap I did because it's going to have like 10 versions of the same game, where the '4000' game one may only have 5 or so.

But, time and effort, the main two reasons I haven't started my cabinet yet, but soon! Also, once you throw in a TV/montior, you may not be saving anything, but you can say you built it!

Did Arcade1Up ever fix the online play for this? I know they took out a lot of what made this original game so fun to play.

If it was literally as extremely easy as your three posts mentioned, there wouldn't be multiple people who have issues each thread.
Why don't you do a write up expanding on step 5 from the current one.

From the replies i've seen, I think everyone makes it to step 5, but configuring multiple cores and getting it to act like an arcade cabinet without a keyboard and mouse (loader) are where the issues arise.

I do not disagree that my questions are about retroarch. That is currently where I am. I individually loaded games but could not figure out the scanning. I also tried to the Port 1 but it is not as easy as you make it seem.

As for videos, I have not found one specifically for this cabinet (retroarch wise) Most are PC or something else. With that said, I have only spent a little time digging into this and if I had the simple answers as you do, I would gladly link them so people could use them.

Just picked this up at the Sterling, VA club. They had 3 of them left after my purchase. Had to talk to the supervisor to get them to match the online price but they did it.

My son has been begging for this since he saw it at Costco. I couldn't drop $500 on it but I'll bite for $300.
