- Device Connection Charge (DCC) is a one-time $35 (plus applicable taxes) charge for connecting a new device to the network when activating or upgrading with T-Mobile.
- BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) only: This offer does not stack with / apply to any device purchase options / promotions offered by T-Mobile. Must provide your own T-Mobile compatible / unlocked smartphone to activate on your free line.
- A recurring credit from T-Mobile will be applied monthly to cover the cost of your new line, making it free for the customer.
- A minimum 12-month term is required for the new line (meaning the customer cannot cancel service/free line before 12 months post-activation or they will forfeit the promotion and the monthly credits will discontinue).

UPDATE: T-Mobile App Chat said I was eligible and added a line for me. The BYOD promotion shows up on the Plan Details and Service Promos pages. Two other promotions of mine no longer show up but Tforce confirmed they are still active.
Seems most people who are told are not eligible, are able to add the line and see the promotion. We shall see if they stick.

This new information also includes language about the 12 month term. Contrary to previous info, it seems customers can cancel lines after 12 months has passed. This is good news for those wanting to close out a paid line after a while.
Also mentioned is the fact that the new DCC must be charged. This is a $35 "Device Connection Charge" that was recently created.
