THIS PROMO (2022 BYOD Line P1) HAS ENDED

There is a new promo BOGO free line promo, ask your T-Mobile Customer Rep about "2023 Line P1" where you buy a line you get one free.

If you are still not showing correct promo give them the details to add correct promo:

Tell them the name (2022 BYOD Line P1), promo code (sp011)and if needed c2 doc (77abc)for reference to find this promo hope it helps
.

Promo ID is 2022 BYOD Line P1. It seems this promo is limited to certain accounts randomly selected by T-Mobile.

Here's everything we know so far:
  • Eligibility requirements are pretty much unknown. To check for elegibility the Customer Service rep has to bring up your account, go to your account profile menu, and under there it will list the promos applicable for your account. If your account was one of the lucky ones selected they will see HolidayUnwrapped promo for a free line memo under that menu. At this moment only T-mobile Customer Service can check if this promo shows up on your account's profile, no way to self check.
  • Accounts must be checked for what is essentially a "memo" on the account indicating eligibility. Eligibility seems to be targeted to certain accounts and not simply by plan.
  • Promotion ends December 19th.
  • Cannot stack phone promotions on this free line. It's BYOD only, thus no future Trade-in or phone upgrade promos on this free line.
  • You cannot cancel any lines once adding this free line for 12 months.
  • DCC fee of $35 will be charged. Unless you do the Self-Service add a device or line BYOD esim option under My Account on your own, after confirming you are eligible.
  • It appears any postpaid plan could be eligible, not just Magenta plans.
  • Promo name on account will be 2022 BYOD Line P1 and is also known as #HolidayUnwrapped.
  • Wait times with support are long, including T-Force. Please only send one message and be patient. It could be up to 5 hours or more before you get a response. You can go to a T-mobile Corporate store and asked them to check for the memo on your account for this promo.
  • You can use an esim to activate the line.
  • Onces you are confirmed that your account is eligible for the promo, you can order by yourself online. The promo will automatically be applied to your account within 7 days.
  • The system is still applying the promo memo to some accounts, if you were told not eligible today, try again before the 19.
  • Some plans have a max number of lines, if your account has reached that limit, even if you are elegible for the promo you might not be able to add the free line. Workaround to this is to move to a different plan.
  • Good luck to everyone.

So far confirmed the following plans are compatible:
  • Simple Choice Plans
  • Magenta Max
  • Magenta Plus
  • Amp
  • T-Mobile One
No promo terms available yet. Screenshot below shows the Promo ID that shows up on your online account line details.

Requires paying one time DCC $35 fee (assited support). Unless you do the Self-Service add a device or line under My Account - BYOD esim option on your own, after confirming you are eligible.

55+ plans are not eligible, adding eSIM doesn't work either: no promotion shows up after self-service checkout, and your plan simply increases by $30-35. You will be charged for one day of service even if you cancel on the same day (this charge can be potentially removed via CS).

No go for 55+. Called.
Does this works if I am grandfathered from sprint ?

edit:

"the offer will require the customer be on a Magenta biller (not Sprint) and have 2 or more (paid) lines. For reference, "Magenta Biller"
No go for Tmobile ONE 9-12 lines (for me)

Still check with a few agents if you have time to spare. My exact plan might not be the reason why I'm not eligible.

UPDATE: T-Mobile App Chat said I was eligible and added a line for me. The BYOD promotion shows up on the Plan Details and Service Promos pages. Two other promotions of mine no longer show up but Tforce confirmed they are still active.

Seems most people who are told are not eligible, are able to add the line and see the promotion. We shall see if they stick.

Which plan did that apply to??

If I can get a rep to tack an insider discount and replace my Corp discount, I'd do it in a heartbeat!

I'm on Magenta Max. I was about to just cancel the new line, but he offered the insider discount on his own doing to my surprise. Definitely ymmv there.

Being on a Simple Choice plan and constantly missing out on new handset promos, I'll need to do a breakdown and see if it makes sense to switch.

Now that I know that the In-App chat and the Twitter/FB chat are actually different support channels, if my bill is still screwed this month, I'll give them a shout and see if I can weasel that free line and an insider discount on there Big Grin

Man while that's awesome for you. I hate how TMobile is so inconsistent. Sometimes they just hand out insider discounts like candy on Halloween. While sometimes it's impossible to get as an existing customer.

I'm grandfathered on the Tmobile One Business Account Plan and had 8 lines. I was told on Dec. 19th that I was eligible for the free line promo with no change to the Plan Amount and I could keep the same Tmobile One plan. All they would need to do is move it from 1-8 lines to 9-12 option.

My Tmobile One Plan went up last month and increased even more this month!

I've spent over 3 hours on phone and text with Support today trying to fix this. The person phone told me he could move me to a Simple Choice plan that would relatively keep my plan amount the same as previously and keep the extra line (so a total of 9 lines).

The person on Facebook Support told me they couldn't add the 9th line and said that the only thing they can do to keep my plan amount the same is to drop the 9th line.

I'm still trying to fight this. Has anyone with a grandfathered Tmobile One plan with more than 8 lines been able to get free line with this promo?

The fight continues.....
An update.
Round 2 - My billing is still incorrect. I just called again and they said that they had made a request last month in their systems to permanently fix my billing to the correct amount and it takes 1-2 months to make the fix. (1-2 months??? really?). Well, one month has already passed and they said the fix is being worked on. I'll check again next month.....

BTW. I've requested and confirmed that all of my conversations with them be documented so I don't have to re-hash everything every time I call back. They adjusted my account payment amount this month by giving me a credit. The net amount I'll pay is my expected amount.

The fight continues..... Round 3 next month....

I give you props to keep on fighting... I've gone through this when i made the change from a grandfathered plan of the old simple choice plan to the essential to the magenta plan, saying i would only pay $20 difference and ended up to be more like $40-50 they didnt offer the free line. i fought for a few months and gave up.. its just so much work and then they offered to go back to my original plan but i would get all my free lines.. and lose all my data lines.. complications i just didnt want to waste my time anymore, eventually i think i will switch... right now they are still the cheapest, but i hate their constant switch ups..

It's a generic term for line cancellation. If you cancelled a line in last 90 days, you'll need to restore that line before getting enrolled into any new promo. But T-Mobile system enforcing it to all promotions or not, it's unknown to us.
If a rep checks terms carefully, a note may be added to your account for ineligibility. When you talk to any rep, please make him/her clear on what notes will get into your account.
Interesting. Well they ended up applying the 2022 BYOD Line P1 to the 10th line, but somehow my 2020 Line on Us disappeared this bill. T-Force added it back after a quick conversation with them. Hopefully this all sticks for the foreseeable future. 10 lines for $40 a month would be epic. Thanks for the insight.

If I add a new line now, and cancel it 3 months later, will it mess up my 2022 byod free line? Someone said you can't cancel any previous line prior to your 2022 free line, but it's OK to cancel a line later added. TIA.

Ideally yes. Anything added after the free line can also be canceled before the one year is up.

tforce says No... "I'm a magenta expert! You came to the right place! If any line is cancelled within a year of the promotions being added, it would cause the promotion to be lost. Even if it is a line added at a later point. Does that help?"

Humm it's been said otherwise. I dunno. I don't have first hand experience. Reddit says otherwise

Welp, another month, another wrong bill.

I finally reached out to T-force through Twitter and even though everyone raves about them, they advised my rate plan wasn't compatible with the free line (since the "promo code" was on my free line, but it didn't take because of my rate plan... Simple Choice 4 lines of 10gb (now unlimited on all 6 lines) for $120, with a 15% corporate discount).

They said my options were as follows:
1) Cancel the line. Deal with it.
2) Sign up for Magenta (not Max) and deal with the increased pricing.
3) Keep the line ($20/mo - 15% off = $17/mo) and they would apply a $200 account credit to offset the price.

I asked how going from $102 + taxes to $160 with taxes was even fair, and "were there any other discounts we could apply to make the plans similar".

Dude replied with nope, sorry. I was hoping to lead him to applying an Insider Discount code to the deal, to make it similar. Then, I reviewed Magenta vs SC and felt that feature-wise it didn't line up well, so now I'm going back to TForce and saying:

Features don't match, how about Magenta Max plus an "Insider Discount" AND the fact my Tmobile Home Internet 'should' go down from $50 -> $30 will keep my in the correct price point.

I'll report back... although I've read unicorn stories about people getting Insider Discounts on existing accounts as recently as March on existing accounts, I have little hope. I'll likely go for the $200 credit and then cancel the line next billing cycle.

The reason I didn't jump on the previous SC -> MM w/ Insider is my in-laws were using a phone line as a hotspot for all of their internet access (living in the sticks - no cable or DSL), so the drop of hotspot data would have impeded them. Now that they are using TMHI, I don't have to worry about hotspot usage anymore.

Interesting. Please report back if you were able to convince them to throw in insider and move you to max.

So far, a lot of resistance. Will update if things change (doubtful with T-Force it seems... maybe CEO time... which I've been successful with in the past- but it was Legere)

Well I just finished with Round 2 of trying to get my billing correct. Called 611 and the guy (who I assume was from the Phillipines based on the background noise and his accent) said he fixed my issue. Took another hour on the phone with him. Hopefully this is the end of this journey. Just in case I've asked him to document everything and put it in the notes of my account.

Fingers Crossed on my next billing!

Thanks to all who responded to my question!
Well I just finished Round 3 of trying to get my billing correct and it's still not correct. My latest bill has overcharged me $65. Had to call again and they then gave me another credit amount to bring my bill to what it should have been. This is the third month in a row. They said it'll be fixed on my next billing and they have made note of giving me a follow-up call next month. We'll see.....
