Careful... if you select any of the additional "styles" for combinations, the kit changes to DCK240C2, lower models than the XR ones in DCK283D2.

DCK283D2: DCF887 XR impact driver, DCD791 XR drill

Yes, you are correct. I have both a Max and an XR, and there have been times I've switched to the XR because the Max couldn't handle the load.

I believe this is a very good deal.

Great deal. I bought this same deal last time it was up here 2 weeks ago and managed to sell the batteries and charger for $80 locally making the two contractor grade XR tools only $100!

Max describes the 20v battery system. Max tools are standard power, larger, heavier. Atomic are smallest sized brushless, good power, lighter, etc. XR are most powerful brushless. Brushless are almost always more powerful and lighter.

I had the Atomic tools and upgraded to XR. Way better on power and just a little bigger. Worth it. If you're going to buy DeWalt invest in the XR lineup.
