I missed some of the great 65" in sub $400 deals during Prime day and Black Friday, mainly because I was doing so much research into the difference in models brands and Technologies sort of like a paralysis by analysis. What I come to realize is I'm truly not going to be happy until I get a 65" to 75" OLED or equal technology TV, but not willing to pay $1200+, so this TV at that price should hold me over for a few years until the price of my preferred TVs gets below $600 during black Friday.

I've been super impressed by Hisense Dolby HDR or whatever they call it paired with an Apple TV 4k. I bought my son the midrange one from Costco last fall, and was so impressed I bought the fancy model from the previous year on sale for myself. Bonkers value-for-the-money on both that made me forget about my lust for an OLED.

Ignore motion. It's a standard 60 Hz panel. Not the best for gaming, but fine for TV.

More expensive TVs generally have better upscaling and processing. Sony is very good for example. But honestly if you are watching older shows like Friends and Seinfeld, they arent' going to have amazing picture quality no matter what, so practically speaking I think the Hisense would be fine.

One other thing to consider is viewing angles. Plasma has very wide viewing angles. Most LCD TVs use VA panels and do not have great viewing angles. If you need wider viewing angles you can look for one that uses an IPS panel, but the tradeoff of IPS is that the contrast is not as good, but should be fine for casual viewing such as in a bedroom.

OLED is the only current technology that can deliver both wide viewing angles and amazing contrast, but the tradeoff is that they are expensive. Probably not worth the cost for a bedroom TV.
This was a well written comment.

This is probably slightly better than TCL Series 5 (I have both 4 & 5 series) and this. Btw, TCL 5 series is a whole lot better than 4 series.

Anyone know of a way to side load apps? I've looked into everywhere but haven't been able to find an answer. Developer options is nonexistent in the settings. In a regular fire stick it is there so we can enable unknown apps.

Try...

To enable developer options on your Amazon Fire TV, open the Settings Menu, and navigate to My Fire TV > About. Select your device's name 7 times, until you see "No Need, You Are Already a Developer." The Developer Options menu will then be accessible in your Settings.

What differences do you notice? I just purchased this for my girlfriend's apartment after being disappointed with most deals this year. For $350 this seemed as good as it gets for the size range even though there are some mixed reviews on the processor, OS, and dark corners. Anything I should look out for when I get it set up? Do you have any setting recommendations? Thanks

Sometimes it's worth the premium. I was in the same boat last year and kind of got tired of waiting. Paid $1800 for a Sony OLED and I justify the purchase because it's something I use almost everyday. You could wait longer but the time you could spend enjoying the TV will never come back.

Good advice in general. Consumers really need to take cost-per-use into account more often even when it goes against their better nature of being dealhunters. It's rare that I pay retail for anything at all, but I've paid retail for laptops for this precise reason. On a cost-per-use or cost-per-day basis the difference in cost between something that's going to piss me off and something that's not is negligible.

TVs are the same way for some people. Of course, there are degrees. Most people could get an LG A2 and be as happy with it as an LG C2 for like half the price, but would enjoy the A2 much more than this TV (depending on the room application) and should probably spring for it for the extra couple hundred bucks.

Settings- Device Preferences-About and then scroll to the bottom and click on "Build" 7 times and then Developer options will be the last item on the "Device Preferences" page.
