To clarify for those not in the know, the standard 4000D without the airflow front panel often can be found super cheap compared to the airflow panel version. The standard version can be found for $75-90, whereas the airflow case can be found for $95-105. Depending on where both numbers are/were when you pull the trigger, you can sometimes come out ahead by not getting the airflow version. But these standalone airflow panels have been out of stock for a long time, which is why it was posted like it's a big deal. Good find OP.

Talk about inflation. A year ago these were $5 whenever they were in stock.

I was debating doing this too, wonder if it even makes a difference. Someone should measure before and after temps, would be interesting to compare.

I think that cosmetically it looks better without the front panel.

Great find! However, when I contacted Corsair asking when / where it'll be available to purchase (roughly 4 months ago), they asked me for my 4000X receipt and they sent me the airflow panel free of charge

That's great to know. To me that says they not only design and make outstanding products, but they have fantastic customer support. It's difficult to have both these days from a company, especially the latter.

I was hunting down one of the glass panels that fit, but if these were in stock I would end my hunt.

Edit: I was digging around and found the 4000X panels in stock. Same price, ships free.

Not as efficient for airflow, but definitely prettier than the solid slab of metal on the 4000D

August 5th I managed to order the white version for $4.99, but shipping was 4.95 at that point. Surprised to see the new price for this when it is was almost never in stock. Still not too bad if you bought the 4000X and want the option to switch between glass and this.

A month before that the front panel appeared in stock and I attempted to order it, along with a new front filter ($4.99) with the free shipping. But at some point they removed the panel while I rushed to complete the order. Still got a new filter for $4.99 shipped.
