The specs on this one look exactly the same as the one i got back in May 2021 for $549. I upgraded the SSD to 1TB and the memory to 32GBs. So far it has been a good PC

Thanks for sharing that. When you say you upgraded the SSD, do you me the M.2 2280 format one? or a SATA one? And if the former, how did you "clone" or get the 1TB SSD loaded with the HP SW and OS?

No matter what some one shows there is always bitching about this or that. This is a good price for a pre-built but still people will whine about something

I upgraded to this one:

PNY CS1030 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen3 x4 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - M280CS1030-1TB-RB https://a.co/d/c0lmB3S

I believe i installed windows from scratch, i recommend to get the wifi driver first, after that there is a HP software that will allow you to download all the other drivers for your pc

It's a surprisingly powerful processor for such a low price. Very comparable to 12th-gen i5, I want to say. Faster than i5-12400 and even than i5-12600 in multithreaded performance. Probably slower in single threaded tasks.

The integrated graphics are going to blow the socks off of any intel integrated offering.

You making too much sense brah. Ain't nobody wanting to "risk" it with these third party keys that I've only used like 5 times and never had any issues with. Also, you can just get a Win10 license for $20 and upgrade to Win11 to make legit. I remember alot of ppl did that when Win10 first came out, not sure if that really works though.

I Never paid more then 25$ for a windows license in any build. Even when windows 10 came out and prices were inflated.

OEM versions are cheap and unless you need to replace the motherboard will be good for the life of the computer no matter what upgrades you do.

Costco has had a similar system with hdd and ssd for 450 shipped.

6 core instead of 8.

https://www.costco.com/hp-pavilio...41375.html

Good for a simple workstation.

Slower CPU and less RAM. Plus $15 shipping which makes it only $5 less than this deal. Pfft.

But double the warranty and 4 years of warranty if you use your Costco Visa card. That's the reason I buy almost all computers from Costco anymore. Really great service and support. I probably bought over a hundred laptops and computers over the last couple years from them. I do IT services for a bunch of different companies.

I'm am in a thither. My 7 year old HP desktop (Win 8.1, 8GB RAM, 2TB HDD). has developed a problem (details below). I just bought a 2TB SATA SSD and cloned the HDD to the SSD thinking it was a problem with the 7 year old HDD. It wasn't.

If I get this one and assuming it has one usable SATA port, I think I could cause it to boot to the 2TB but then I am back to Win 8.1

Is there a way to get to Win 11 and keep all my installed programs and data files?

******* Description of problem with my current desktop ******

It was taking a long time to boot up. Like 10 or 15 or 20 minutes. Considering the HDD had been spinning for 7 years, I thought I should give it a time out.
Well the SSD has the same problem. Then I found that after the 10, or 15, or 20 minute boot time, if I shutdown and started soon after...like within a few minutes, it would boot up in 20 or 30 SECONDS!

I also discovered that the computer was up and running in a few minutes (or maybe less) but it was the screen that was blank for all those minutes. I discovered this by using another computer that was networked to this one. A few minutes after starting the desktop I could use the networked computer to access shared files on the desktop.

I was starting to sense a temperature problem with the monitor so I left the monitor powered up overnight. It still took many minutes to show the screen

I ran many tests like controlling the overnight room temp and measuring the time to the screen appearing. Sure enough, the colder the starting temp of the computer the longer it takes to start. Each time, after the screen came up I could shutdown and it would reboot in less then a minute. Yesterday I let the room temp go down to 68 F and it took 43 minutes to boot.

So my question, So which is easier? Switch to a new computer with the old OS or switch and try to upgrade or fix the temperature problem?

Any idea on the power supply rating?

I purchased the TP-2066 version of this from a previous deal...in the thread at that time they mentioned this which might interest you where someone swaps the PSU out for a drop in 500W replacement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8qDUzUbtS8
