I believe i installed windows from scratch, i recommend to get the wifi driver first, after that there is a HP software that will allow you to download all the other drivers for your pc

I have spent a lot of time pinning this down to a temperature problem.
And I have had to track down temperature problems too many times in the past on other hardware..
I am considering breaking out of this loop by just spending a few hundred buck on another computer. I was trying to ascertain how much effort it would be to recreate my setup on a new computer.
I still can't tell.

OEM versions are cheap and unless you need to replace the motherboard will be good for the life of the computer no matter what upgrades you do.
I have so many programs that are very old that I need for legacy hardware and I don't know if I can find the install stuff.
Maybe I'll try to find the temp problem for a while.
Thanks

You need more THC or lay off the THC?
I had replaced the electrolytics a few years ago when the PS failed. It has been working fine until now.
Of course I would have known that the monitor was the problem if I had followed dealseaker's advice of 12/25 and tried another monitor. I brought one out of storage and using dual monitors, the storage one displayed the desktop in less then a minute while this monitor took over 21 minutes. My only excuse is the old monitor was stored on a ceiling rack in the garage and we had single digit temperatures so I wasn't in the mood to get up there and dig it out.
Note, I had incorrectly ruled out the monitor because I left it powered up over night and the system had the same problem the next day. Duh....if there are no signals, the screen won't be backlit so it won't be "warmed up"
Thanks dealseaker and ValdC. Slickdealers sure have the knowledge
