This is why I should stay off Slickdeals a little more often...
Personal experience and suggestions:
Try first on an old device when you arrive. Something of a small/or no value. I used one of these types of devices, it fried my hair dryer, AND a new laptop.

This is an adapter not a converter. If you plugin an incompatible device (110v device on 220v plug) using this adapter, then it will be a toast no matter if it is small or big

I thought that as well. Plug this into the wall, made sure all good, plugged the hair dryer, burn smell, gone.
I thought it was only the dryer which gave me the problem, then the dreadful thing happened.
Thanks OP! +1 and repped.
If you have a more analog type of appliance that does not have an option to switch voltage, you probably shouldn't bother traveling with it. A transformer is heavy, bulky, and many have fairly low wattage rating. If you really need something like a hairdryer, just buy a cheap switchable voltage type.
My bad, link's landing page is for E/F (The one that would interest me). Have to select G.
