Definitely pay attention to the voltage. I've fried electric toothbrush charger and other things for mindlessly plugging stuff in when traveling. A little bulkier but generally safer to get an adapter with voltage converter.
Looks like E/F and L finally went on sale. E/F is particularly handy even if you don't require grounding as the plug design will hold itself more securely in the outlet than some more universal "Euro" designs (which are typically intended to easily accommodate both E/F and C, but which end up being a little loose in both!).

One interesting feature included in the two-prong designs is a second outlet (so that the outlet adapter is also a splitter / current tap). The usefulness of that will depend a lot upon your needs and the ability of the associated plug to accommodate the extra devices. I've almost always used short extension cords as the outlets are rarely strong enough for a bunch of charging bricks hanging off a travel adapter.

Good luck!
Jon

True. But almost all devices are dual voltage these days including laptop chargers, beard trimmers, phone chargers etc.

One major exception to this is hair dryers - DONT bring your american high wattage devices to foreign countries unless it is dual voltage and/or you know the voltage & frequency are compatible with American grid.

E/F has support for grounding (C does not). A C plug will fit in an E/F outlet.

Good luck!

I don't recommend that anyone shop for a voltage converter. Exactly what exceptional device do you still carry on international travel that requires a dedicated voltage converter? They exist... but the conversion to charging "everything" with USB has certainly eliminated a large swath of such devices.

Checking any devices before you travel is certainly still good advice (better safe than sorry) ,but these days even the cheapest commodity electronics tend to integrate support for global voltage. And if you're still dragging around an old razor, etc. that doesn't you're potentially better served by replacing that particular device.

Good luck!

So I took my dual-voltage hair dryer with me... and then one day accidentally operated it with the voltage selection switch in the wrong setting. That was a bad day for that hair dryer (and the last time I ever dealt with that kind of device: the price wasn't worth the supposed convenience).

Good luck!

Am in Europe now and just bought a European Revlon hair brush dryer. Travel enough that it was simpler to just buy one here.

You cannot use the USA version in Europe, even with a converter.

An E/F plug will not fit in a C outlet. Is that correct?

I would say that a "proper" E/F plug will not fit in a C outlet.

There are plenty of plugs which call themselves E/F but which are really just glorified C plugs.

Good luck!
