If anyone can chime in about how this compares to the 2 way compustar that was 250 a few weeks back, I'd appreciate it.
Both companies are partnered up so basically the same company
Compustar (been out longer so slightly older model)
3000ft max range
One 2way remote
One 1way remote
iDataStart (newer model)
6000ft max range
Two 2way remotes
Get the Compustar if you're on a budget or don't need extra range -- otherwise pay more for iDataStart for longer range and second 2way remote
I went with iDataStart last month and its working great so far in a Honda Civic -- $50 extra for double range and second 2way remote was worth it for me

DO NOT MAKE APPOINTMENTS WITH THIS LINK. It might not be up to date. CALL THE STORE YOU'RE INTERESTED IN GETTING IT INSTALLED TO ACTUALLY MAKE THE APPOINTMENT.
Good luck getting an install date....all my local locations are booked at least through January. (I had the compustar installed on my car this past week, but I ordered it when it first went on sale in November).

Yeesh, thanks. 10 stores around me, not a single opening. This price is pretty similar to a Mom and Pa shop near me, so I'm thinking I'll go there for an equivalent.

You won't get the same deal. There's a reason the dates sell out fast. You could always just make an appointment and try and get a cancellation when someone cancels their appointment.
But if you can find the same deal locally then you should go for it.
You can always cancel your BB order if you find a better deal

Yeah, but I'll get in before winter is over in MN.
Did you really think you were going to get an early install in Dec?
From BB? No. But that's their fault if they don't want my money. I'll go to someone who has the bandwidth that does. Furthermore, BB "techs" are mostly hacks at best.

I've used them about 4 times across 2 different techs and 2 stores and they've been nothing short of wonderful and beyond competent. If you've had a negative experience with them, just say so as that would be helpful. Angry hyperbole is not.
Conversely, I've had poor experiences with our Mom and Pop's "deal". Sold my wife a crappy one-way system that worked sporadically at best to start, and wouldn't open her sliding doors. Used up a spare key for the remote start system's bypass module for a car that didn't have a transponder in the key. This is one of the vehicles that I took to best buy to instead have a compustar installed and they found it amusing and gave us our key back, along with the bypass module that came with the compustar we purchased.
Turns out inexperienced people and experienced people can work anywhere. 🤷🏼
