inflation is the silent killer
The rise is not entirely due to inflation. The pandemic demand for at-home gym equipment plated a role.

Design is the main reason i went with the Core Home Fitness set.
Looks like that design doesn't allow the user to adjust each end of the dumbbell to a different weight. With the 552 you can get even smaller increments. As small as 1.25lb. The Core set appears to be fixed at 5lb.

Well do you really need to increase your weghts by 1.25lbs? I much prefer to have size adjusted to its weight rather than having same huge size dumbells whether its 5lbs or 50.

We have 2 sets of these, 1 set of Selectech 1090's (for me) and a set of the Powerblocks, for my Wife. I've never really warmed to the Powerblocks but assume some of that is well worn preconceived notions I have regarding the shape of dumbbells. She likes those fine.

I'm a major fan pof the selectech design and am relatively fit and have used these for ~12-15 years on different Beachbody programs. Can endorse.

Price is also really solid.

I bought these right after the pandemic on sale and free delivery through BB. These are great, offer a lot of different weight options, well designed and have held up well to roughly 2 days a week use. Wish I bought the stand for these or even kept the box to put them on. I've been using them on the floor and it's a pain to constantly bend down to pick up and put down. Overall for home use, I would highly recommend.

For reverse flys the 1.25lb increments are helpful. That exercise is not high load.

I found the dumbbell bar length cumbersome at first. But I have adapted. It was difficult to do unponated curls. Rotating the arms away from the body was the solution and it's probably better for the muscle tissue doing the curls that way.

It was and even lower, I bought for $203 in 2019.
Yup I remember I had these in my cart from the Bowflex site for $299 in early 2020. This was normal price. Seeing it priced at over $400 is sad to see the greed.

I've had these for a couple years, they work well for the flexibility of heavy and light weights. Quick transition of weights can be a problem, it takes a bit to get used to it.

Additionally, I've gotten the selector stuck on the wrong weight and had to force it to get it back on track. But that has only happened a handful of times.

Overall great weights if you can deal with the bulkiness.

Yeah I went with a different set for the same reason. I went with the Nuobells. Ended up being a good buy imo.

This isn't normal price? I swear Blowflex sold these for $299 pre-COVID.
Yep, $299 was regular price for nearly decade. I bought mine full price in 2013, still going strong.

I've been using apartment fitness centers a lot and was considering selling my pair and stand so it's crazy seeing the price now.

If you "outgrew" the dumbbells than that means you were probably not using the lighter weight selections. So the weight/space ratio would not have been much of an issue.
But it's info that everyone might not realize. These are pretty long and they taper, which might not be ideal when propping on legs before chest stuff for example.

Where you been for the last 3 years? These used to go on clearance at Walmart for $175 WITH the stand...
