I think this is good. I know people will complain about only 8GB RAM, but the dedicated Graphics means the AMD processor which would otherwise use a lot of its resources for graphics, will be freed up for other things.Plus, I'm almost certain the the 8GB of RAM does run in dual channel. TLDR It's a good configuration.

Edit: I take a lot of that back because it's not FHD+ as posted. It's just FHD. OP Please correct.

I remember Suryasis posting this deal a couple of weeks/months back and he stated that despite FHD being mentioned it's actually FHD+. I can't find that post for the life of me, I'm still trying and will link it if I find it. I have corrected the title to FHD till then.
The screen is around 400-nits.

It's confusing sometimes because they manufacture specifically for BB. I don't know about this one, but sometimes the BB versions have shit screens. I remember the highly rated HP Envy 360 2-in-1 had a 250 nit screen at BB and a 400 nit screen nearly everywhere else. Could be the reason for confusion regarding FHD vs FHD+. IDK.

Soldered RAM? I suspect it might be at this price point.

Yes, this type of RAM (LPDDR4X) is always soldered

No USB-C charging, bummer. The soldered ram sucks too, but at least it has dedicated MX450 with it's own ram.

I have a 14" version similar to this, it has USB-C charging and was a hundy cheaper. This is probably a newer CPU than I have.

The MX450 is surprisingly not horrible. 720p high or 1080p low depending on the game. It's better than any current integrated GPU.

You're going to want to drop in a bigger nvme though, so $100+. It wasn't too hard to get apart if you know what you're doing and GO SLOW around the edges with a credit card or plastic wedge tool.

Bummer. Thanks for confirming. Other than this, specs look pretty good for my use case.

On work trips I take the Zenbook 14 with a 5500u and MX 450 2GB. Plays most everything I do well, especially at reduced settings. RAM doesn't seem to be a problem limited to 8GB. I upgraded the NVMe to 2TB from 256GB and that's all it needed.

Much rather travel with something light and portable than a thick slab of a gaming laptop.

I know the RAM is soldered, but hoping maybe there's a single open DIMM slot? That seems to be more common lately… 🤞
