the battery is not replaceable in this unit so after a year or two it won't last very long and then after another year it will be worthless.

You have to disassemble these to replace battery, the ones that are "user replaceable " have a door with single screw retention.

Contrary to what people thing the battery in these ARE user replaceable. However they aren't as intuitive as the older ones since you need a long Philips head screwdriver to reach the screws. Can get it at Harbor Freight. The older one was way easier to access

Mine lasted 4 years before it died. And when it dies you can't use it as a normal surge protector. Makes a siren noise that is unmutable and keeps going till it's unplugged.

Wait, how does user replace battery? Where would you get the exact battery and how much would it cost? Even if it's $5 per battery (which I doubt it is) , that adds up over the years, right?

That's not user replaceable, that's user hackable. As others have mentioned, user replaceable ones have a door that you slide, disconnect and replace the battery.

Batteries are 20 to 30 depending on size. Most ups batteries only last 3 to 5 years so batteries have to be replace or you buy yet a new one.

The batteries are pretty standard. Just search for example 7ah seal battery, or 9ah seal battery...

I got the linked $80 version for my Synology last month after looking into these for a while. Wanted something basic that could auto shutdown and just keep things running through brownouts. It's compatible and recognized by the nas, no complaints so far.
