How much better will the OP screen be? I realize it's IPS vs TN, but looks like the nits aren't much higher.
Is there a better alternative in this price range?

sRGB is the de facto standard color space for the entire internet, screens, printers, computer monitors, et cetera. Since nearly everything is made towards sRGB, not being able to reproduce 100% of it means colors will look a little duller and sometimes just plain wrong (orange tint instead of a solid red, or some shades of purple and blue looking the exact same, for instance). However, since your laptop and OP's laptop both have 45% NTSC, OP's laptop will actually look a lot better because it is IPS*
*this is true for laptops because screen manufacturers have not made decent TN laptop screens for nearly a decade. All of the TN screens in laptops currently are MUCH worse than a typical TN screen that goes in an office monitor. I don't know the technical reason for this but it seems to be related to the panel manufacturers cheaping out on the polarizer and dedicating their efforts to cheap IPS screens instead
