A head's up to those considering buying this. I ordered it back in September and waited 3 weeks for it to arrive. Once it finally did, the box was unopened but empty. Just a word of warning

Don't get this for someone who might actually use it to cut vegetation, unless you don't like them and don't mind them getting hurt.

I have used mine (not this brand but similar) to absolutely shred through blackberry brambles that would otherwise be a huge pain in the ass to remove. People talking shit here about the serrated back edge, but it's lovely to have in the right circumstances. The straight blade can clean up most vines but when you have a thick one or a twined bundle, just placing the serrations against it and sawing once or twice takes care of it easily. The serrations on these things are ludicrously sharp, not like a bread knife.

Price is right, and most of the reviews look good aside from complaints about the sawback tearing up the sheath. Worth a shot, machetes aren't aren't as cheap as they used to be. It looks like this will arrive after Xmas for those looking for last-minute gifts

If I'm going on a "big adventure" with this, I think I'll spend more on something more reliable. Who knows, I might battle against a grizzly. But for the average city backyard, this will be fine. Smilie

In the third world they are spending a lot less than $12 for a machete.

I would never buy the serrated versions, that's just a minor injury biding its time…

Plus if you need to push down on the saw for extra force, that's just blade you're touching. Wink

Great price, just wish it were a little different.

The handle seems like a bad design. Maybe worth form if you use its for the occasional camp trip or something.

Lots of reviews showing the metal is brittle and snaps, get a cheap stamped high carbon steel from the hardware store.

Serious question, what do people living in an average American household use these for?

I bought one after watching The Walking Dead and a SD happen to pop up. It's thankfully never been used…on vegetation or on Zombies.
