This or Sabrent Rocket 1TB for $90 US? I've got a PCIe3 board so I don't care much about raw speed

Take the Sabrent. On a older platform, your board wont really utilize what the M2 offers. However if you're planning to reinstall the drive onto another PC, or keep it for "long-term" purposes, the SK is better but obviously more expensive.

Expensive for a rebrand of an Intel 1TB 670p. Most 1TB dram less drives are around $50 now.
It has dram and Hynix makes their own.

Microsoft stopped trusting SSD hardware encryption a while ago after it discovered some manufactures didn't actually encrypt data as expected or used default keys to unlock all data. I have a SK Hynix P31 and P41 drives and both don't have any issues with Bitlocker.

All SSD'S? And I can't get my gen 3 sk gold 1tb to work because "raid controller" any advice on that? And I'm guessing I should get bitlocker huh

I know it's confusing, but SK Hynix P41 and Solidigm P41 Plus are two completely different products...

Bitlocker is supported in Windows 10 Professional and Enterprise editions and typically requires your computer to have some level of TPM chip installed. If you're using most pre-built computers, they come with a TPM chip, especially laptops. However, if you're using a custom built computer, it is more of a roll of the dice depending on how old your motherboard is.

You can find more details from Microsoft about Bitlocker and the requirements necessary to work.

From what I can tell, PCIe 3.0 vs 4.0 only matters for data throughput (gigabytes per second), which is important for sequential reads and writes (e.g. copying a 3gb file all in one go). But for system responsiveness (like switching to a browser tab that Microsoft Edge put to sleep), that's more likely to be lots of random reads and writes, so total bandwidth is less important, and PCIe 3.0 vs. 4.0 shouldn't make a difference. Anyone disagree or have benchmarks to suggest otherwise?

[EDIT] Answering my own question - random IO isn't affected by PCIe 3.0 vs 4.0 (source [digitalcitizen.life]). The SK Hynix p41 blows other drives out of the water (source [tomshardware.com]) in terms of random IO, so I'm planning to get it even though I only have a PCIe 3.0 slot.

[EDIT 2] Looks like the Solidigm p44 is the same drive as the SK Hynix p41 and the 1tb version can be had for $130 plus a free heatsink from Newegg: https://www.newegg.com/solidigm-1...20-318-012. The Samsung 990 Pro is the only drive in this price range ($100-$200) that I've found with random IOPS "well over 1 million", though it's a little pricier at $170 currently.

Brought the 2TB of P41 back in Nov at $170 and used it as external system drive(TB) in M1 MAX.
I had compared it with SN850X and their performance are almost the same in reality and benchmark.
The only major difference I am aware is that large files copy: SN850X seems to have much higher write speed than P41 when in out of SLC cache state.
