Please don't buy the incandescent, I'm not a tree hugger, but you'll save more more with Leds.

Lowe's is 100% the worst store with pickups.

There won't be any. Lowe's will probably take them off their website soon, and the local stores will discount them further in the next few days (if they have anything left). Once they're below a certain inventory level they'll be written off and disposed of (Home Depot and other retailers do the same thing). The days of shopping for holiday lights a week or two after the 25th are almost completely over.

You cannot buy worse lights than GE. They are the biggest piles of trash. I would not pay $1 for a set. Every person I know who has bought GE lights from Lowes says the same thing. You are lucky if they last 1 holiday season without failing.
We buy some of the GE colored ones every year. I think we're up to 15-20 strings. We use them inside the house and they're performing great. Have had some for 3 years. Deciding if o should wait to see if they get even cheaper.

When do they knock them down to $1?

I am a tree hugger and a first time homeowner. After stringing up my first ever Christmas tree, I promptly removed every one because the LED glow was awful. My wife thought I was crazy. I returned with incandescents and she said, "I understand now."

Next year I'll take the hit and repurchase all the lights in the front of my house for incandescence instead of LEDs.

LEDs are aesthetically AWFUL. They defile the appearance of Christmas as far as I'm concerned. I do hope they get there someday, but they're not anywhere close yet.

And yes, I bought warm white. I keep the lights on a tight timer (5pm-9pm) so I am okay with taking the energy bill hit. It's only a few weeks a year.

If you find the colored LED's with faceted cut-crystal-look bulb covers, they don't look too bad, especially in red or green. But I agree that they don't have the same beauty of the old incandescents. Incandescents can be a real pain, but if you replace the early dead ones (inside a warm house), and get the "light-keeper pro" gun to hunt down loose bulbs or flash their shunts, it makes them easier to manage. If you don't replace the dead bulbs, the remaining ones of each series of 50 take on the excess voltage and burn out that much faster. Buy an extra identical set or two as a spare, and if a strand becomes unfixable, use it for spare bulbs going forward. The mini's don't use that many watts really (about 40W per 100).

Based on what people are saying about the name brand GE being crap, maybe the generic brand Holiday living is the better buy?

I was at Lowes today and they already had all the Christmas decorations at 75% off. If you want something..i'd suggest going right away.
I got a nice 9' lighted garland for $8.

To each his own. I'm sure there are many like you and that is why the incandescent ate still for sale. I do love the natural and warm LEDs. They look the most like the old school bulbs. I also like the vivid colors that colored leds give. Both are cool.

This is in line with most of the reviews on Lowe''s website for all but the microbright leds.

Big difference I see between the microbright and staybright leds is the microbrights have a single transformer at the start of the strand and the staybrights have a transformer in each light?

I bought about 20 boxes of the GE lights two years ago. Literally all were dead this year. Save your money

LEDs will not save you any money considering the increased cost of the string.

Also all the cheap LEDs I buy crap out within 2 seasons.

I send them here when they die. As I absolutely hate this con.

Not sure about the larger sets but those 100 light GE strings have some pretty bad reviews. Opted for the Holiday Living LEDS for pick up and we'll see how that goes.
I bought 10+ boxes of the 100ct staybright lights after Xmas a few years ago. Last year I strung most of them outside to line my driveway. Most of the lights went dim and eventually died within days, and it didn't even rain. I threw them out after I took them down. A couple of the strings that I used inside have been fine for several seasons. And yes, they are supposed to be outdoor rated.

Agreed! LED lights have their advantages, but it's not in aesthetics. I bought several boxes of lights a few years ago after Christmas and some were LED and others were Incandescent. Put them up finally this year and definitely prefer the Incandescent glow/look!
