I would like to just point out that most of these are the current/normal price on steam at the moment. (some of them are even more expensive!)

There are a couple of really useful tools/sites online that will let you look up some current and historical pricing data for games, one of the best of them that I found so far is

isthereanydeal.com/

It maintains a database for current sales and can show you a lot of historical sale data similar to how cccamel does for Amazon products.

Out of this bunch, just in general, I would strongly recommend

Astronneer (you can play single player, but it's a game that almost needs multiplayer to really be fun. This is a light-hearted exploration and Base building game that you could/should play with your kids.),
the basic version of DRG; Deep Rock Galactic. (DANGER, DARKNESS, DWARVES! ⛏️💎 Pretty big online community.)
Satisfactory,
the riftbreaker + Metal terror DLC,
They are billions,
Mech warrior 5, (fun in co-op)

I've had several people tell me that rimworld is very fun but at the same time also tell me that it's such a massive time sink that I should stay away from it. I have done so upto this point!

Find games that look interesting and then run it through isthereanydeal so you can see what's actually a good price, compared to creative marketing. 👍

Avoid RimWorld. It's a drug (has drug trade). It's a bad influence (teaches you to harvest organs for money). It was banned in Australia!

If you can put up with all those, I'll see you on the Rim

I've played quite a few of these, some of it is my own personal bias so as always with games, I recommend taking 5 minutes for a game that interests you and watch someone play it on twitch. Just to see if it will actually be your cup of tea.

Deep Rock Galactic: Loads of fun, lots of memes, bright colors, lots of action, its a hell of a game.

Barotrauma: This is one best bought with friends. It really requires teamwork but lots of lasting memories

Hollow Knight: Just from top to bottom this game is gorgeous and well designed. Game play is great, artwork is great, just nothing but love here

Myst: This is one that I really recommend for someone who loves jigsaw puzzles. Its very divisive and easy to spoil yourself by just looking up the answers.

Pathfinder / Solasta: Both are just really well done top down RPGs based on the Pathfinder and DND 5e systems. Pathfinder is really solid, plays well, and is lots of fun. Solasta started off a bit slow for me but the two expansion packs went a long way. If you play tabletop rpgs, pick the system that matches what you play.

Rimworld: This game is really not new player friendly. But it is a great game. Highly recommend watching someone play this for an hour or so before diving in yourself just to understand the crazy depth here.

Satisfactory: My go to relaxing game. Hard day at work? Sit down with satisfactory and a glass of wine and veg out for a couple of hours as you watch your conveyor belts work. Also the dev is CONSTANTLY adding content.

Stardew valley: Cute, fun, straightforward game that is the best in its class. Recommended for all ages.

V rising: Combat feels great, basebuilding feels fun overall. This is probably my least favorite of these recommendations because I feel like the rollercoaster of fun starts really well and then it just kinda slowly tapers off and doesnt have that staying power the other I recommended.

I have several of these games, and paid less than what is here. Not to say there isn't any deals, but just make sure you are truly getting a good price before pulling the trigger.

These are just typical run of the mill sales, there's nothing remarkable about this. I don't know why people keep posting entire sales pages from distributors? They literally have sales on these pages daily, just rotating the same games over and over.

Depends on what you like. Personally, I like simulation and city builder games, so I'd say that Banished is an amazing game and this is a pretty good deal for it. It goes on sale for around $6 a few times a month, and the lowest it's ever gone is $5. It's pretty much the best of it's niche within the genre, and the Steam Workshop mods are some of the best mods ever made for any game, they dramatically increase the scope of the game to mind-bogglingly huge proportions. Just play the base game before installing any mods.

Yeah, this is a typical sale price for Astroneer, but it hasn't gone any lower in like 3 years, so it isn't going any lower, that's probably as a good a deal as you're going to get. And Satisfactory is probably the best automation game I've ever played. You can get it for $13.50 at the Epic game store with the 25% voucher automatically added at checkout until the promotion ends in a week or so.

Deep Rock Galactic is an awesome game and definitely worth the discounted price. It's a lot more fun when you play it with friends. You only have to buy the game to unlock the full core content. The DLC and any in game purchases are purely cosmetic only. There is no such thing as pay-to-win in this game (as it should be). The writing is very comical (similar to the Portal games). They have different classes, skill trees, weapons, perks, raids, etc. A dedicated person can easily spend hundreds of hours on this game.

Yeah. I'd double check those prices with your favorite "key" sites... These prices are higher than what can be had elsewhere.

Yeah Rim world is pretty fun once you get the hang managing tasks for your people. I think what really made the game such a fun experience for me was just how brutally random it can be for just a plain looking game. One time was being attacked and my people were being slaughtered, but for some reason the animals that my colonist just befriended by this one animal loving colonist decided to go to war. It was so funny to watch 2 horses, 3 bunnies, 2 turtles, and a trumbo just loose their brains and go rampage, it was enough to give me an edge in fighting back.

Hard game, but the calamity and even loosing is fun.
