I mean I use Evernote Scannable (best scanning app I've found so far) but the app is starting to show its age. It hasn't received an update in 2 years on the app store

The issue is free version is only up to 60MB per month. And they seldom have promotion up to 50% (I have seen 25%, 40%, but not 50% before)
Right but for Adobe they have tons of viable products that generate revenue (photoshop, illustrator, InDesign, premiere pro)
Evernote on the other hand only has Evernote to generate revenue. Scannable is a free product. Without money to support scannable, the software is basically going into extinction.

It works fine for free, limitations on number of devices suck, but better alternatives out there if you're DIY-competent. Pros: automatic cloud backup, Cons: even if you pay for it, you're locked to their platform and will have to pay perpetually (or until you bite the bullet and take the time to fix the errors in their format yourself - which gets more expensive time-wise with every note you make with them) to use more than two devices.
because it sucks!!!!!!! lol
