This is an awesome package. 6800h is great and the igpu is awesome. I'd totally get if I didn't recently buy a Zephyrus G14.

The website warns that going to 32gb won't allow you to pick the OLED screen, but it's not in the options anyways…

Upgrading to 32GB memory and 1TB is $842. Not bad.

those are intel cpu though, compares to the 680m on 6800H, the graphic performance is day and night, 680m is on par with GTX 1650, and the intel cpu prob ran out of battery in 3 hours, 6800h can do 10+ hours while still have a iGPU double the performance of intel iris xe

I feel like the slim x pro is an overkill. I really don't need dgpu and the 3k vs 2k screen. The refurb probably cost around $100 more. Thoughts on why I should keep the slim x pro over the thinkbook?
I think the biggest difference is having it now vs waiting for an uncertain delivery date over Lunar New Year. Assuming you're getting the 512GB Thinkbook, will you need to upgrade ($) the SSD within a year? The screen is also dimmer on the Thinkbook but I do like the extra M.2 slot and USB4 port. Your call. It really depends on your current needs.

Best Buy has a very nice Lenovo Slim 7i (refurbished) for $638+tax. A very good deal given the specs if you want to save a few hundred, want a machine sooner, and don't need the extra power of the Slim 7 Pro X.

Intel's 12th-gen processors (esp. the P series) are space heaters.

Any links or evidence?

A few desktop processers have run hot but their mobile ones seem fine (especially the 28w TDP units). The single core consumption is a bit on the higher end but under normal load my unit is silent and fans run quietly.

Checked out some benchmarks on notebookcheck and in terms of temp/power draw its less than the Ryzen 9 series at higher multi core loads.

Not sure about the benchmarks but it's absolutely true that the 12th Gen P processors are space heaters

Same, I ran the report and it only had 1 cycle. I wonder if that's just how this laptop is. I keep the brightness at about 60% and switch to battery saving mode by pressing Fn + q . Also keep it at 60 hz. Battery estimate reads around 6.5 hrs

Install Lenovo Vantage from Microsoft Store, launch the app, install all the updates, and change Power & Performance to either Battery Saving or Intelligent Cooling.

In Windows Power & battery, change Power mode to Balanced or Best power efficiency. Also, change refresh rate 60Hz in System > Display > Advanced display. Screen brightness also affects battery life. Also install Windows updates under Settings > System.

Uninstall McAfee if installed.

just talked with lenovo customer support and they said it's a problem with the battery. Should i ask the seller for a refund or send my laptop to a lenovo tech center?

My delivery date has slipped to Feb 1, about 2 weeks later than what it showed upon ordering. If anyone gets theirs before then, I'd be curious for impressions, esp. re: thermals and fan noise, given it's a higher-powered H-series processor.

With so many delays, try calling in and get some cash back/concession. Prices on PC components drop drastically over time, especially after a new generation (cpu's) is introduced.

They offered $50 off when I first called (before the delivery date was pushed to February). I just tried again but hold times are long so I hung up. Not quite as long as their lead times, of course ...

You can also disable the dedicated gpu while on battery. More details here. https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDLapto...m_7_pro_x/

Thanks. I'll try calling. Mine got pushed back to Feb 8!

Did you say you were keeping the 865 and returning this 14p?

I got the 845, it's great. Debating whether to cancel the 14p order - if I kept it I'd be using the 845 as my backup computer. ETA: My 14p order has been pushed back again, also to Feb 8.
