Personally, I would not. Despite Fender's marketing copy, this is not actually a jack-of-all-trades type of guitar. It's more of a jack-of-TWO-trades guitar.

IMO it's useful for a small subset of traveling and/or gigging guitarists out there who specifically need access to the exact two types of sound that this guitar can do reasonably well. For any other sounds, there are much better and more affordable options out there for beginners.

If you want to learn acoustic, get an acoustic guitar. If you want to lean electric, then electric. If you want to learn both, then get both... not this thing.
Temping, yes. But probably only because of price. I've bought enough tempting guitars on price (and losing money selling them) that I think I've learned my lesson. Now, I only buy guitars more based on need. (I'm pretty needy though, so maybe I should get this Acoustasonic. hahaha.)
Screaming deal! Used ones on Reverb starting at $900.

In for one. This is about the price point Fender should have targeted all along for a Player series guitar.

If they could sell it for more than $699 they would.

This would be a decent beginner guitar, but if you're just learning you could spend about half and get a solid beginner acoustic guitar to learn on. These guitars are more intermediate and used often for gigging musicians. You will also need a guitar amp with this guitar (I guess you don't need an amp, but that's how these are designed to be played).

Lol... It sounds like the current price is probably the "expected" pricepoint for something like this. I recently bought the Boroughs guitar and also picked up an Enya x4 Pro during pre-BF deals. I should have waited on the Boroughs as i could have saved another $20 though... I have a few boutique guitars as well (collings, goodall and bourgeois) but any "deal" on a guitar is ways tempting to jump on
