direct search from adorama shows the list price 329.99$. But only the link in slickdeals post works with 149.99$ price. When I pulled the trigger it was still 149.99$ before tax. I clicked on the order I placed it directed me to the one with 329.99$.

The discount is a deal SD worked out with Adorma. It is passed through the URL (&emailprice=t).
This has a Fishman pre-amp/ pickup and built in tuner.
Laminated guitars are less prone to warping if humidity is an issue and some sound just fine.
All valid points on decent instruments, but if this has the same thick gloss finish as their other cheaper models, like the CC and CD-60S, how it sounds day one is about how it'll always sound. Having a thick gloss or a laminate top is passable. Having both isn't worth the money to me. Fishman isn't automatically top-notch. They also make low-end stuff. The pickup on this thing doesn't even have a model or series name on it. It's probably the cheapest one they make.

I generally agree with you. Best to play a guitar before you buy one and a solid wood top should have a better tone... but a laminate should be better at beating off zombies being more durable.
Probably want a guitar tech look over any mail order guitar but I think this would work fine for a beginners instrument.
I just got a Fender CD60 as a camp guitar and it is so much better than the guitar shaped objects found in department stores that I played on as a kid. Neck and frets were much nicer than the Ibanez solid top I got for my brother for Christmas.
