How is this a good deal? Samsung Pro & WD Black SN850 with heatsinks have been on sale for around this price recently, actually established brands.
Phison is an established brand when it comes to controllers.

Worst part of this deal is buying from Newegg, but everything else checks out. Should be just as good compared to Samsung or Hynix, quality wise.

Sony subsidiary partially owned by Phison, never heard of them until now.
Completely owned by Phison. Sony sold its shares to Phison in early 2022. It was a Phison-Sony joint venture earlier.

Be careful with buying Samsung drives, for some reason the number of failed drives have increased throughout the year especially the 980 Pro. I've moved on to buying Hynix drives now.

Also it's so "established" as a global brand that it doesn't even have a US Customer Service phone number

Nothing on its website & Newegg lists an Japanese number for support.....
I said not in USA. Where did I say it was a global brand? Also, you are going to tell me a SSD controller maker for 22 years isn't established enough?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phison

You didn't do your homework on the brand and just talk shit out of your ass.

Dude. Seriously. Quit and walk away while you still have some dignity left. It's ok to be wrong. Happens to everyone. Digging your heels in after the fact is when you go from just being wrong to flat out ignorance.

And just to clarify, I thought THE SAME EXACT THING you did when I first saw this deal. Then saw the comments, then googled, and enlightened myself.

First time to hear about this brand, from the comments here, looks like a good brand to buy. Smilie

this thread is like sabrent SSD all over again. just because its new to the market, doesnt necessary means its bad.
Here are all the articles about this particular brand. reliability and customer service still need to be tested, but it looks decent on the paper.

the no-name company was already covered by multiple industry sources last year
https://www.theverge.com/2021/9/1...laystation
https://nascompares.com/2022/01/2...benchmark/

and... already demo'ed its PCI-e 5.0 line
https://www.tweaktown.com/news/89...index.html
https://www.tomshardware.com/news...ssd-demoed

this uses 176L NAND / E-18 controller similar to the Firecuda 530, so much for non-competitive Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

I wonder how this no-name drive, sold from a no-name vendor (3rd party newegg store) could possibly get 20+ upvotes when it is completely not a slick deal nor competitive with any number of other name brand drives on the market?

Things that make you go HMMM. Peace

BTW, whose flash are they using?

Edit: I guess this demo drive is close to the Nextorage drive, so Micron.

Crazy that just in Mid-2021, high-end drives were $200-300/TB.
