FYI, this has been this price since November. It appeared as a holiday promotion located in the gift bar area of HD. If this set hits $15 then it'd be a SD. At $20 it's still good but not spectacular.

FYI, I have this and have used it a handful of times. The screwdriver handle broke almost immediately; its cheap pot metal and the top of it broke right off. I still use the ratchet occasionally.

Have this, can confirm it is trash. But trash often gets the job done.

Excellent point! I am hoping these go on sale after Christmas for what I got mine originally at $15.

If your wife keeps giving you "stubby" tool gifts, she may be trying to send you a message. At least that's what my friend tells me.
Easy son, you can't blame everything on me.

What makes the set nice is the warranty. I've broke a similar Husky screwdriver twice now and HD replaced it no questions asked and they typically come in a set with bits so they let you keep them too when exchanging. Keep in mind you get what you pay for and none of this stuff is made like it used to be. Luckily some of the tool brands are starting to bring hand tool manufacturing back to the US so hopefully some day hand tools like this will be on par with the old school stuff.

I was just at HD yesterday to pick up a few things, and went to check to see if this set got marked down yet. If nothing else, wanted to get this one to replace the case of the old set I have. As I said in the other thread: This is the first year these stubby sets have the ratchet inside the case as opposed to outside in this stupid attachment point.

I have one of the old version of this kit also. In the old version, the handle on the ratchet extends. The new version does not.

Hmmm...I don't recall any of my ratchet handles ever extending, and I've owned at least three of these kits. Only extending ratchet I ever had was from Lowes in one of their Kobalt kits. Not saying you're wrong, might have been before I bought in in a year I missed. (I noted that I buy these kits almost every year to keep at parents or friends who always ask for help putting stuff together, but never have any tools other than a pocket knife or dollar store pliers.)

Like you I have the old case style that has the ratchet held outside the case. Like the gentleman above mine has the moveable handle that extends the ratchet another 2 inches. I like that feature but apparently they discontinued that feature.
