Pricing is currently normal TurboTax + $10. This should drop when the deal goes live on 12/28. Don't bother trying to buy it early.

There are no referral links, they are Amazon Smile links.

Yes it's being delayed a year, there's an article abt it at irs.gov. However, it was only ever a reporting change; you've always owed taxes on PayPal/Venmo/etc business income whether it was $20K, $600, or $10. You owe the same taxes you've always owed, it'll just be a lot harder to cheat now (2023 tax year with delay)

I'm surprised that they are sending me a physical gift card. I assumed they would just email me a code.
They probably did the math and figured more people would end up not using the physical card vs the digital is my guess.

So will this price drop closer to deadline in 2023 or best deal now?
This is usually the best price of the year, you'll see many of us wait for this one every year.

Honestly I dont think there is any limit on the number of returns you can "prepare" with TT, I often create several "what if" versions of returns and have never hit any limit.

I believe these are the actually limits:

5 installations of the software
5 federal efile (I've never tested this limit)

I don't believe there is any limit on the number of returns you can "prepare" including state returns and I doubt there is any limit on the number of state tax returns you can efile considering you are charged for each one.

Again I haven't tested these limits so if someone knows better please feel free to correct but I know there that the statement that there is one state prepare is not true.

I use a single copy (single install) to prepare multiple federal and state returns. I think the extra steps you are taking (turning off your internet) to avoid "1 state prepare" are not necessary.
That is correct. No need to turn off internet as any additional costs are assessed when any additional state modules are downloaded to the computer after the first included (free) module is downloaded.

Does deluxe version suffice for a rental property or do I have to get premier?
My understanding is that Deluxe has the required forms and I don't know how much guidance it gives on completing rental income.

I don't have rental property so I don't want to speak about things I don't have first-hand knowledge. Maybe another reader can chime in here.

The thing is that Intuit is actually pretty nice about using a single copy of Turbotax, a lot of people are making this much more complicated than it needs to be, thinking they need to buy multiple copies.

A single installation can prepare and file 5 tax returns (federal for free and state efile extra)

You can install it on up to 5 different computers

Each install can have a different state download

Basically the desktop version is very friendly for doing multiple returns for family and friends, it doesn't have any "gotchas"

Pay with Amex points get up to 50% off.
I'm not seeing an option to pay with Amex Points. I do however see at 15% discount if I use my Amex Card to pay. Equates to a $9.75 discount on Premier

Yes it has the forms just not a in-depth guidance. We own apartments and used the deluxe last year.

Appreciate you chiming in, a lot of people are asking about rental property and deluxe. Great to get some real-world feedback here.

Does the download desktop Deluxe version handle capital loss carry over? With the online version you have to move to premier.

Got extra $15 off using the Amazon app!

Also please read the wiki. The questions now are just repeating the same thing again and again.

How did you get $15?
