Pricing is currently normal TurboTax + $10. This should drop when the deal goes live on 12/28. Don't bother trying to buy it early.

There are no referral links, they are Amazon Smile links.

Yes it's being delayed a year, there's an article abt it at irs.gov. However, it was only ever a reporting change; you've always owed taxes on PayPal/Venmo/etc business income whether it was $20K, $600, or $10. You owe the same taxes you've always owed, it'll just be a lot harder to cheat now (2023 tax year with delay)

So will this price drop closer to deadline in 2023 or best deal now?

People say the "web version" at intuit.com forces you to buy Premier if you need to do stocks/crypto. Deluxe is fine if you use the "desktop version", which is either download or physical disc. I can't believe I've been paying extra for Premier. Definitely shady marketing.
Agreed. I meant to say deluxe is fine if you have the download version and not the online one. Thanks for clarifying for others.

I kind of like turbotax guide for everything if this what you mean by handholding (don't need phone support or anything like that as I can do everything myself). I have not played with deluxe and the forms themselves. sometimes it is a pain. the cost for me between deluxe and home and business is a $23 difference. maybe it is worth it
I dont know what that extra handholding looks like because I've never paid for it.

The Deluxe (desktop) version walks me through every topic, one at a time so if that is what you mean then Deluxe already has it.

You always have the option to jumping directly to any speciifc form you want and then returning to the "guided" topic by topic walk through.

I assume Premier and H&B includes extra help topics or whatever but I want to be clear that the Deluxe version doesn't just put the raw tax forms up on the screen and expect you to fill it in - it guides you through the whole process start to finish, you don't ever have to deal with the raw forms unless you want to.

Personally I like to look at the raw forms when I am done to compare to the previous year, line by line to make sure everything looks good but that's me, it certainly isnt a requirement.

This is what Deluxe desktop looks like :

In description it says:

- Includes 5 Federal e-files. and 1 State via download (State e-file sold separately)

So if I need to do taxes for 3 different people I have to buy 3 copies?
No you can do them all with one copy on the same computer assuming they are all in the same state for no additional cost for the software. E-filing state taxes costs $25 for each individual return. You can create multiple returns (one for each person) with a single software activation.

Deluxe has everything that premier has wrt Schedule D and auto-import (which you definitely want to use)

I've daytraded and had hundreds of trades downloaded including stocks/options/futures, deluxe (desktop) handled it all.
Does deluxe version suffice for a rental property or do I have to get premier?

Would this allow me to file the same state twice? Once for myself and once for my wife? Or would I need to purchase an additional state file?

I tried to buy the CD version but they are charging $10 shipping fees. Total is more than $25 so don't know why the shipping fee?
I was being charged shipping too so I just selected an amazon locker as the shipping address, pickup on Jan. 3rd. That made the shipping free.

This is usually the best price of the tax season.

I believe the overall consensus is that this is the cheapest you'll see it between now and tax time.

Stocks and Crypto can be done only with the Premier version.
can i get some scenarios what the "extra" help with stocks and investments entail?

Damn intuit. Premier (before discount) is already close to $100?
This is a friendly reminder of inflation. The Premier deal was $54.99 + $10 GC last year, so basically $54.99 => $64.99, this might be a more accurate actual inflation rate than what Fed. declared.

Yes. It's what I did last year in NJ. Used TT Deluxe Federal and pulled the information I needed into NJ's e-file portal. Been doing it for the last few years and it's super easy and saves me money.
this is the way to go. for some reason i get more pulling TT federal details into CA site versus what TT state return quotes.
