Nothing special about this price, Newegg beats these prices with free shipping all the time. as already mentioned WD offers the same prices at the moment. Someone asked about cache size. Depends on where you intend to install it. NAS can get by with a smaller cache. Network speed is probably going to be your limiting factor.

I'm new to UnRaid and I'm unsure how big of a parity drive I need. I think I'd need one/two drives that equal or exceed the size of disks in my setup. So if I have 3x 8TB drives equaling 24TB I would need 24TB parity drive capacity correct? Or can my parity drive/drives be a smaller capacity than the data drives total?

You would need a 8tb drive for single parity or 2 x 8tb for dual parity if you are using the standard config for your setup. Remember that parity isn't a backup and you should have important data backed up on multiple media types and also off site (Ie cloud or another physical location) so you will need another 3 x 8tb setup elsewhere 😁

I need an external backup drive. Would putting one of these into an enclosure do the trick? If so, any enclosure advice? TIA.

Your parity drive has to be the largest drive size (or equal).

Parity drive need to be no smaller than your largest data drive. In your case, you need 8TB parity drive. Either one or two

You need a parity drive(s) to match your biggest data drives in size. The parity drive should be at least 8TB if you're running 3 x 8TB for data. It doesn't have to be the same size as total amount of your data drives. if you ever add a 10TB for data then your parity drive must at least a 10TB drive and so on.
