Various retailers have To Sell Is Human: The Surprising Truth About Moving Others (Kindle eBook) by Daniel H. Pink for $1.99.

Thanks to Community Member phoinix for finding this deal.

Available:About this book:
  • To Sell Is Human offers a fresh look at the art and science of selling. As he did in Drive and A Whole New Mind, Daniel H. Pink draws on a rich trove of social science for his counterintuitive insights. He reveals the new ABCs of moving others (it's no longer "Always Be Closing"), explains why extraverts don't make the best salespeople, and shows how giving people an "off-ramp" for their actions can matter more than actually changing their minds.

It's not tone deaf at all. In fact it's based on actual social science (unlike the drivel peddled by Marxist asshats fantasizing about a world where people just give them whatever they want with zero effort).

To sell is to offer value to other human beings. And unlike so many false "justice" fantasies, it depends on the most important element of human interaction: consent and mutual benefit, an exchange of values amongst people who make a *choice* to engage in a trade together.

Just fyi, its a 10 year old book. So good price if you absolutely must have it right now but it's readily available at most libraries and e-libraries.

The description is literally right there, but let's make jokes about being bad at understanding grammar.

Pink is a smart guy. I've seen him speak and read a couple of his other books.

Looking forward to adding this to my list of books I never read.

"When" is a great book — helped me understand things that my ADHD brain did not grasp on its own.

Any more feedback on this book from this forum? I know there's a lot of reviews on Amazon.

I've read the phrasing of "to ____ is human" many times.
This book's title never registered to me as anything else, and I'm not some literature snob.

And if the goal of this book is to show that selling is not
necessarily sleazy and is a normal thing for humans to do, then I think it's a good title. I think reading an attempt at shock into the title is unjustified, and frankly, sus.

It's a harmless cookbook, it's just a little dusty.

Here's a great video from Daniel Pink about "The Suprising Truth About What Motivates Us," if you want a little taste of what this book is probably about:

I'm in technical sales and sell to engineering, general managers of factories and purchasing organizations. Even with highly technical people as my customers, it's all about relationships. We sell based on adding value willingly and ethically. One if the biggest things I love about my job is that I sell products they need and do so ethically.
If you're selling the right products for the right company, sales is very ethical. My customers enjoy me visiting and know I'll help them solve peoblems.
