Refurbished unit, Retina display 4k. Usually good 4k panel would be more than this, so this is like buying a display and then getting a usable computer for free. Would be good for lite tasks and movie/video watching. Supposedly has one year warranty as well.

https://www.backmarket.com/en-us/...323c6#l=12

Edit: this may not work well as an external display. Can consider Luna display as an option, or for those of you guys who's adventurous, can do hardware modification with sounding like this https://youtu.be/0VXQu0fAc8s

How would this perform as a media server (mainly music)? I just signed up for a lifetime plex account and want to use it to handle my music media for plexamp.

Should be great. I use a 2014 Mac mini as a my Plex server, and it's a champ.

Macs are the only refurbs i'll buy. But this is a 5 year old computer running a soon-to-be unsupported chipset with a spinner hard drive. Super slow is only the beginning of the problems.

Even for $225, this won't be for everyday use. Media server, file storage, etc., this would be fine.

Intel Macs are such a waste in 2022 let alone 2023
Sure, in term of speed.
It's all depending on what you are going to do with it. Just like building a new PC, you gotta find the purpose first.
It's better than any Dell/HP SFF for this price. The downside is you must like Mac.

No experience doing it myself but looks like Yes.

PLEASE NOTE. the link above is for older macs using Sidecar. Not absolutely sure if this will play nice as a monitor for macbook or mac mini. Maybe Airplay ?

A bit confused since it says SSD in the item description and also in the technical specs. I would think If you received it and that wasn't the case one would have an easy return ?
