Yep. Additionally, this has a zone 2 out. Have my outdoor speakers acting as zone 2 and can chormecast or airplay to the receiver and easily listen to sweet music in my backyard. The onkyo app can control the volume and tracks (can also do this through spotify)

The RZ50 is triple the cost and that is IF you get it on sale. MSRP is 1600 which is 4x the cost. Imagine someone looking for a 6600 XT and you recommend them to get the 4080 instead. Thats absurd.

I picked one of these up when was on sale over Christmas, this is basically a re-badged nr6100 which has an MSRP of $800, and I'm very happy with it. This uses AccuEQ for room correction, which works well enough for me. To get better room correction you'd need to step up to the nr7100 for Dirac at a cost of $1300, maybe I'd hear the difference but not worth the extra $900 to me

I'm conflicted because people on Slickdeals are saying this is meh at best, but other reviews are saying this is a hell of a deal for the price.

I need something compatible with Xbox Series X since my Pioneer VSX-1020k isn't 4k (or 8k) compatible. My speakers are only 100 watts RMS, so I don't think I really need anything in the 120+ watt arena.

Just get a Denon or Marantz with Audyssey XT32 or one that will at least work with the editor app. It will cost more than this, but will also have many more features.

Buy it if you're conflicted. You're not in the crowd that needs more. Your not going to get anything close as good as this for 400.

That's kind of my thought too. 8K support should last me a while, but I'd much rather replace a $400 receiver 5-8 years from now because it's outdated instead of a $1200 receiver. The VSX-1020 works great and sounds great, but I'm missing out on 4k video because of it.

I've been using this receiver with a 5.1 setup since June of this year. Be aware that if your speakers are rated at 8 ohms, but actually go lower than 8 ohms, this receiver will click periodically at a certain volume threshold when setup at 8 ohms unless you change the setting to 6 or less ohms. First time setup is as buggy at times.

Otherwise this receiver works for me and sounds great, but I am setup in a tiny room so didn't need much correction. I considered getting a better receiver but it would have easily cost twice as much if not more for better correction software and pre outs. I would recommend this receiver for the price. Also if you don't like, it's an easy return to Costco.

This isn't great. Basically you have the $400 Costco tier and the ~$1k tier and the escalating >1k tiers.

You don't really want to be in the bottom tier of anything in life, but receivers especially. If you like Onkyo, Look at the RZ50 which includes Dirac Live.

Denon has solid models from yesteryear(x3700h, x4700h) and newer ones(x3800h, x4800h) with good room correction. The newer models allow for an upgrade to Dirac live for more money.

Yamaha makes some solid stuff, but it's not had the best hdmi results, and many are limited to 24gbps instead of 40+.

With the pass through this is built to be a good option for games. Easy choice if not going for $$$ sound with $$$ speakers.

Will this receiver and a pair of bookshelf speakers sound better than the $800 Sonos Arc? Basically, I'm looking to improve my TV audio for $800 all inclusive.
