LTT recently had a podcast discussing Plex and Jellyfin (and what they currently prefer to use) https://youtu.be/bbY3PNZUMVg

Some people noted in previous threads that if you live in countries other than the United States, you may see lower pricing (such as Colombia).

A common question is, is Plex Pass worth it? Here is a feature overview: https://support.plex.tv/articles/...-overview/

Same here after the changes to Amazon music I decided to migrate back to my own library.

If you use Android try symfonium music player a try. I enjoy the experience more than Plexamp. And for audiobooks the chronicle app.

right because you know for a fact that all his media files were in a format that would fit on his phone or tablet?
Did you think this through?? IF his media files were 50 to 100 gig full 4k rips then how do you think PLEX was going to copy them locally??? To 4 different family devices? All in the same evening? I know Linus has some good hardware, but the night before a flight his server is going to transcode 4k content of multiple movies to multiple devices???

Otherwise, even if overkill, many many high quality 5.1 sound, 1080p bluray rips can fit on a phone/tablet. Especially the "cheaper" ones that still have SD storage. Which I'd argue, even if you have fully uncompressed 4k rips of movies, what's another 3-5 gigs to keep a quality 1080p copy for lower end devices?

Not 100% sure what you're asking. But this last year I upgraded from a nearly 20 year old hauppauge card to a dedicated HD HomeRun device from SiliconDust and have been very happy.

FYI the program guide is provided independent of the device, aka from Plex and it is top notch.

Plex is really bloated now. Now, there are ad supported streaming videos that even Plex Pass users have to contend with.

It's not as stable as it used to be.

Veteran Plex-er here. PlexAmp is terrible. If you want to unlock God mode, download "Prism Music" and "Prologue" for iOS and prepare yourself for the best music and audiobook readers in existence.
I don't listen to audio books, but I thought PlexAmp was pretty good? I usually browse my music library via folders which I've already setup long ago.

If you're got an iPhone, dump PlexAmp and buy Prism Music for iOS. Then come back and thank me for it.

Prism Music is a masterpiece. The best music player hands down and I've tried about 35+ clients on iOS. Having Plex and Apple Music support makes it a godsend!

Is it because it integrates Apple Music? I don't subscribe to the latter.

Anyways it looks like it's free, so I'll give it a try.

//update: tried it. Deleted it. I like my music folder organization, and I'm not able to browse my music by folder using Prism Music unlike the native PlexAmp app.

Apple music integration is a bonus. Plex integration is its main focus. Trust me. I am cheap as fk when it comes to life. But good software is worth the $$$ and Prism Music is the KING!

did you? 1 pass fastest encoding will do a 3 hour movie in 30 minutes with just cpu encoding. so youre telling me he wont be able to copy a few movies with multiple hardware encodes in a few hours?

if anyone here is naive its the person that thinks linus is too dumb to just plug his phone in via usb to copy some files

No one has to "contend" with the ad-supported free movies in Plex - unpin the option from your sidebar like you customize anything and everything else.

I have a NAS with Plex running. I honestly can't think of a single time when I wanted to watch some of my local content or share that content where there wasn't some kind of little bug, performance issues, or it just straight up not working. I recently spitefully setup jelly fin after messing around with plex trying to get access form an android TV. It took me less time to setup jellyfin on my NAS, phone and TV than I spent troubleshooting Plex.

Good riddance Plex.

How do you purchase with a VPN?
I'm having trouble with CC being in U.S and Paypal being U.S Paypal.
