FWIW I bought this and it's pretty unreliable. Probably best to save up for a more reputable brand (doesn't have to be Fluke!). Good price though.

Dang, I paid about this same price a few weeks ago & gave to a friend for Christmas, hoping he'd use it instead of his trusty HF unit.

May just be me, when it worked it was awesome, but it required me to restart a lot and then it just stopped responding to most features.

Unreliable in what way...any particular functions? Do you any specific recommendations/Amazon links?

Would often read zero volts, then when I restarted it would read volts (could never trust a zero volts reading with it). Frequency usually would read a harmonic instead of the main frequency. Eventually voltage stopped working all together. My cheapo craftsman I bought years ago works more reliably. I don't have any recommendations, people seem to like Klein's for the money. TBH I'll probably save up for a Fluke or Brymen as all the cheap meters I've bought are a waste of money. Check out the eevblog YouTube channel, he has a lot of comparisons on there.

For those that are willing to spend a bit more, but not as much as a Fluke, I've had no issues with UNI-T UT61E. I got it for around $50 a few years ago, but of course they have gone up in price like everything.

I also have a DKMHA VC17 that's been fine and it cost less than the UT61E, but it doesn't seem to be available any longer.

eevblog is a good resource and may have more up to date information.

Thanks OP, I picked one up. I actually had this in my cart from yesterday, so the deal is timely.
Sounds like it might not be great, but for the price of a Cheeseburger, I can give it a shot. And if I use it enough to see it fail, then it will be easier to justify a more expensive meter.

Yes, indeed. My friend, more than 50 years, is a real farm boy who can fix anything with duct tape, baling wire & HF tools &, of course, he's a regular customer there.
