They're both great deals. I have both and they're definitely not the same functionality. But the Tascam will meet the needs of 90% of people and it's a really good price.

Tascam was also doing a rebate where you got a pair of free headphones and a free mic with a Mixcast purchase, I'm not sure if it's still going on (it was as of at least end of august when I bought mine). There's a link to the form in the Mixcast deal thread.

It isnt really the same functionality, but pretty close. The rode has APHEX that are quick to get some of the "broadcasting sound." Hardware is a bit stronger etc.

But it is pretty close given that it is half as much money.

I bought mine during that deal. I haven't tried the microphone yet but the headphones are decent.

99% of buyers don't need the functionality of the Rode. Especially at almost double the price.

I disagree. The majority of people would do better to use the built in rode settings than try to replicate them.

Of course, the vast majority of people would do fine with just an audio interface or goxlr.
