Link your riot games League of Legends account to Microsoft Xbox game pass (can be a trial pass which is what I did, just remember to disable the recurring payments)

For league of legends (PC), linking provides the following promotion:

Per this FAQ [riotgames.com]: "All champions may be unlocked with Game Pass, but just like the free weekly rotation, those champions are only available for a limited time—in this case, that's as long as you have Game Pass!"

I no longer play LoL, but I've played it since its beta state and for about 9 years after that. Unlocking every single champion as long as you're subbed to Game Pass is quite the benefit, because unlocking all champions will take someone a ginormous amount of time and/or money.

But does that defeat the point of playing? You already have everything... I think playing would get stale without any rewards.

Not at all. The fun (for me at least) has never been about unlocking champions, but rather playing the ones you enjoy playing. With this deal, you can freely try any champion you wish rather than waiting for them to be made available via the weekly rotation or without spending a ton of your precious and scarce Blue Essence unlocking a champion that you may not enjoy playing.

hmmm, I play Valorant through Epic store, not Riot Launcher, I wonder if it still works.

Remember when you would just buy a game, get 100% of it, install it on your own pc and actually own it without phone home launchers and server nonsense? I miss those days.

Or should I sign in with Gamepass first in their option for that?

Yep I miss that too. But I also appreciate that game prices are still similar to what they were in the 80s at around $50-60 for the leading titles. It seems like a decent balance between price and playability rather than games costing $100 these days. If you really are into it and buy everything that it offers, you're probably looking at $200ish for games now which would match that inflation.
