I have my credit frozen through all credit bureaus and applied last month and got approved. No hard or soft pull on reloadable

You can use the code online first and then use it in store. To be safe, try doing both purchases within the same day.

Source: Did this with two coupons earlier this month.

It's not worth it if they pull your credit, there's so many other cards that will give you better incentives. If they pull your credit then mind as well get more with a credit card right?!

The reloadable can not be loaded in the app but must be loaded in the store only? So to use it to purchase at Target you have to load it in store first then use for the 5% Cashback?
Per their T&Cs, you can either reload at the store or by auto-depositing your paycheck. I first did a reload at the store. The clerk had no idea how to reload, had to be instructed by the manager. I guess Target would really like you to visit the store and browse.

However, I was able to set up ACH transfers from my bank account and it works fine. You need to get the account number and 9-digit routing number from your account.

Note that because the reloadable and debit cards do not do a credit pull, they also do not report your spend or payment history to the credit bureaus. They will not help you build credit.

For the person with Target GCs, it's easiest just to load them in the app. You can pick which GCs are "active" to pay in the app. For example, to force a portion to go to your RedCard. However, Target has closed almost all of the stacking tricks that used to work.

Why are people opening a credit card, dinging their credit, and risking racking up another massive interest honey pot for another megacorp…for $40?

Do people realize at say 30% interest they'll owe that $40 back on even a meager $1000 balance in like 6 weeks lol?

Do people ever stop and ask, huh, why are they giving me free stuff to open this credit card today…why are they so interested in me charging this to their line of credit today?

Some things people do, make absolutely zero sense…they know that…and exploit the masses.
I think most people (including myself) want to get the reloadable Redcard and don't plan to ever use it. Just to get the $40 coupon. It doesn't ding your credit and it's not a credit card, if you do use it. You can load money on it for kids in college etc. No interest.

You can ask why people make any number of bad choices. But assuming you just get the reloadable (without a credit pull based on other replies), it sounds like a free $40 Target gift card.

Even if you got the credit card for 5% off, if you only shop within your means and pay in full every month, it only sounds like a win for a responsible shopper. Please correct me if I'm missing something.

Been explained over and over in this thread. The coupon is mailed to you with your card, which takes approx 2 weeks to get.

Questions on Reloadable card :

1. Do I have to wait for the card to be shipped/delivered before I can start using it online?

2. Can I reload the money from my bank account as an when needed instantly?

YMMV. I've my credits frozen as well but won't go through despite answering the security questions.
