Also. Cat6 cable supports up to 1Gbps in speed. If your speeds are 1Mbps - 1Gbps, Cat6 is appropriate. Cat 5 is good for speeds of 1Mbps - 100Mbps, if you can find a cable cheaper than this one that is Cat5, Great! If not, Cat6 is fine for lower speeds.

Considering the relatively trivial price difference between 6a and 5e/6 now, I wouldn't go out and buy CAT5e or CAT6 for a 10GbE deployment, but I also wouldn't have concerns running 10GbE over a 5' length of CAT6 in an home environment, even with stranded conductors.

I am only running Cat6 10GbE in my house because I had a ton of leftover cable from data center consolidations. I also run Twinax DAC for runs closest to my network gear, as I don't prefer 10GBase-T SFP+ transceivers due to excess heat.
i need a white patch cable though, to better blend in with my walls
edit found 10 ft "light gray" amazon basics cat 7 patch cable 10ft is 3.20. interestingly the 7 ft length i'd rather have was $11, so i went with the 10ft anyway.
If you need something shorter for a patch panel, check out their SlimRun 6a stuff.
For in-wall, 6a should be fine, but is more difficult to terminate if you're re-wiring your entire house on your own. Unless you have a lot of long runs (>50m/150'), even 5e should be fine for up to at least 45m (and that limitation only applies to 10GbE; for standard 1GbE, it's just the usual 100m restriction). For network closet/patch panel connectivity, I'd go with the Monoprice 6a SlimRun cables.
