About this item:

  • Emergency food ration, in robust, airtight, and waterproof packs, in a convenient, compact pocket size
  • NRG-5 Emergency Food Rations are compressed high energy biscuits. The NRG-5 rations are developed for use in relief operations during natural or man-made disasters, for emergency preparedness, outdoor activities and as a food supplement.
  • 20 years shelf life within its durable, air sealed packaging to ensure preservation under all climatic conditions
  • A 500g pack contains 9 individual bars with an energy value of 260 kcal each, which in turn are vacuum-welded together in an aluminum composite foil (water- and gas-tight). A 500g pack is equivalent to 2,380 kcal, so it offers more than an average daily emergency (1800-2000 kcal).

In for one just to experiment. Maybe it'll replace my 50 year old hard tack

Edit: A few observations simply from the ingredients: While sugar is listed as one of the first ingredients, it strangely lists 0g added sugar. Also it appears to have basically zero sodium, which in a survival situation is actually advantageous, in addition to making the food taste much better. Kind of a strange product imo. That said, I'm surprised at how many people in the reviews don't seem to understand that these are designed to be rehydrated and eaten in a porridge-like state, not eaten like an energy bar. It's like pouring dry flour into your mouth and then complaining of how dry it is. If you can't figure out you need water with this, no amount of survival rations is going to save your life.
I read through a bunch of reviews ranging from 1-5 stars and I don't think a single person said it even tasted decent. I'll still Slick it though. I figure by the 3rd day of not eating, even sawdust might seem appetizing.
True, saturated fat from grass-fed animals and tropical oils will not kill you, and are actually good for you in moderation. That said, this palm oil is hydrogenated (think crisco) and is by all rights poisonous.

I've actually been meaning to throw something like this in a waterproof container in my basement just in case. Is it worth it to buy like.. 7 days worth? Or is this more a one day last ditch thing where you'd rather let the zombies get you

108g, 540% daily value saturated fat. Heart attack after 3 days?

I remember when all of these emergency food supplies were being posted during the whole Russian Nuke scare by slickdealers. Fear drives these stupid things in demand. Of course there's a place for them don't mistake what I'm saying for ignorance but just saying people went a little overboard with the paranoia on here with the food emergency deals

Sugar is responsible for heart attacks, not saturated fats.

This information needs to be shared with the people who think they will lose weight buying low fat food alternatives at the grocery store that think eating fats make you fat.

You are right. I didn't read the ingredients and didn't realize the saturated fat was in the form of hydrogenated palm oil. Apologies to busybugsy if that's what they were saying.

Is there an advantage over something like this that probably tastes better? https://www.amazon.com/Augason-Fa...06Y22PSSJ/

Density/volume?
