I opened a business checking last year over the holidays and didnt fund in time for the promo so I closed it without ever putting anything in it-any idea if that might preclude me from being a new business customer?

I had savings w/Purepoint a couple years but the rate has sucked since Mitsibishi sold them, so I'm looking for other options-Citi has also been advertising a similar rate-neither Chase or Citi has ever offered a decent rate on savings, so I'm skeptical of the restrictions.
The other thing I considered is the $700 promo for self directed brokerage acoount w/$10k new money but 3.8% is only private client and idk if I want to use their private client unless its just for 3.8% savings.

if you do self directed you can buy short term CDs or treasury bills yourself on their website.

There would be a 1% fee if you buy/sell a security in the brokerage account. No fee if you just hold your securities (say S&P 500 ETF).
