Op, I'd reframe this deal- totaltech is $200 a year- instant saving based on your post is ~$460 (which would cover totaltech). So $440 after $500 gift card and includes totaltech for a year (wonder if you can return after purchase) and if you keep totaltech an extra year of protection (totaltech benefit).

You can't return purchase, voids deal. In the past you could cancel Totaltech for a refund, might still be able to

Total Tech Support cannot be returned, but it can be canceled. You can cancel your membership by calling 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289) or you can opt out of auto-renewal by managing your subscriptions on your BestBuy.com profile. You will not be able to cancel your membership at a Best Buy store.

For a yearly membership, if you call within 30 days of purchase, you will receive a refund for the full value of your membership, minus any membership discounts you may have received. If you cancel after 30 days, you will receive a prorated refund, minus any membership discounts or benefits you may have received.

Yup definitely factor in the Total Tech membership cost as non-refundable. Unlike a Costco membership, you get an instant refund on cancelation, each cancelation is actually a request that goes for review before you receive a refund, so they are likely to reject any refund if you got a discount using the membership. There is a discussion on reddit regarding this.

You will probably have to pay the difference in that purchase if you cancel within the return policy which is 60 days with total tech

I see an Open Box - Excellent for $839.99 that you can get without the TotalTech requirement. Could be worthwhile to go that route.
