I have done same thing for iPhone 13 & phone is still locked with visible & paper weight in India.
Steps to follow from my personal experience.
1. Buy a iPhone 14 from visible
2. Active eSIM and use it on same iPhone 14 for 62 days at least
3. Go to settings and check carrier lock status, it should say NO SIM Restrictions
4. Once you make sure phone is unlocked as NO SIM Restrictions
5. You're free to send this iPhone 14 to India & it will work with any network (Jio, Airtel & etc…)
6. You still have to meet 90 day requirements to get your gift card & AirPods
7. Keep visible service active in any other phone here in US till you get your free stuff.
Hope this helps.
Please don't do same mistake I have done for iPhone 13.
Also, iHass, how did it work out for you, did you end up getting your GC and airpods? If so, what did you end up having to do to get them?
To have the phone unlock, it will need access to the network so that it can receive the signal to the phone. If the phone has no service and/or isn't connected, it can't receive the unlock from Apple.
Promos are a bit easier. They are not tied necessarily to a SIM but rather the account. If you make 3 payments you'll get the promos. (Or should anyways). I've seen it kick in a couple of days after the 3rd payment but these are easier to escalate / get via customer support if needed.
Does anyone know if the phone can stay active on any visible line or does it have to be 60 days specifically on the line that you opened the account with? I kept the phone it its box and am going to gift it to him soon. We have a separate visible line that I can let him use the unopened phone on and I'm wondering if it will unlock after 60 days on that line. (I would think it wouldn't really matter if it's the new line that the phone was bought on as long as the phone has activity on 1 visible line continuously for 60 days), I'm asking here because you guys seem to honestly know more than the poorly trained visible reps.

Hi! So it's been a while since I personally had my issues. So take what I say with the caveat that due to a ton of complaints, it is possible Visible changed their policy / system and are more flexible now. With that being said and assuming nothing has changed system wise or process wise, the Promo is tied to the "Account" which in itself has a SIM tied to that account. Part of the promo is transferring a phone number so that phone number is now tied to a SIM which is tied to that Account. The clock starts the moment you "activate" the SIM which again, is tied to the account. Each "activity" you do, seemingly auto-resets the clock (e.g. in my Case swapping from one eSIM slot to another eSIM slot on my iPhone resulted in a reset of the Clock - which happened when I swapped from one Visible plan to another)
That aside, the unlock ends up sending automatically after 60 days + X # of days. However, if the Account + SIM is not the phone that you want unlocked, then the unlock won't happen. So you kind of need it all together so that things don't get messed up and they don't claim that you were out of policy or anything else that might subject you to lose what you were owed.
TLDR - If you want that phone you are about to gift be unlocked, then I would leave it tied to the SIM + Account + # that you bought it with and let it do its thing after 60 days (and then gift it).
