I was able to get my relative to run a Flash ID (see below). His was brought during this sale https://slickdeals.net/e/13728968-lexar-lns100-480rbna-480gb-sata-3-internal-ssd-29-99-at-staples-com?

There is a chance they might had done some part swapping so I would verify your firmware the original was back in 2018. The original was a 480GB not 512GB, so hopefully the firmware is still marvell and nands are TLC still.

Is this better than the PNY CS900 500GB 3D NAND for $26 the other day?

Only info I gleaned from verses is both are TLC. But it was comparing a 1TB Lexar vs the 500GB PNY

Think I may have time to cancel that and buy this instead.

Cs900 has a really high random failure rate due to the phison s11 chipset. Just Google s11 satafirm cs900, mainly a chipset problem not pny. my relative has that n100 for a few years now with the Marvell chipset. Only complaint is it runs relatively warm compared to other sata SSD while idle. Might just have been an issue with his but it's still working πŸ‘

Done. At the very least this has slightly more storage.

Regardless I'm not putting anything important on them anyway, they will damn near be a cache drive where I put files until I hook a 8TB external drive to copy the files over.

Less than 10 out of nearly 6,000 complain about failure. Based on those reviews, I would not say it is common. Is there anything in Amazon with more than a thousand reviews and less than 2% are 1-star?

Only 4 left in stock; this won't last long, unless they get more stock.

I don't trust all that much of 5 stars reviews, I usually go to low stars comments and consider the common points.

I always go to the 1-star reviews first, often they are the only reviews I look at. My experience is that 10% 1-star reviews is common. Some things, such as Blu-ray players I believe, always have at least 10% 1-star reviews.

2% (or less) 1-star reviews, when there are many reviews, is uncommon.
