So I have a similar model by Jetson, and I'm 230-ish and if I hyper mile (walk it up steep hills, etc) I can get 10-12 miles of range at a steady 6-8mph on the paved trails around here.
My Hover-1 Blackhawk is slightly less watts than this and it can get my fat ass (210lbs) up to 17mph for 8+ miles. These really are well made
I have doubt it's anytime recent for that price.

I think you should go with the hover 1 journey instead of this. This thing is heavy. I get like 7 miles. Only took it out twice. It's my spare. I wasn't impressed. My journey is faster and goes farther and its cheaper. These bigger wheels and heavier frame might be reason.
I Weigh 245lbs. I get 13 miles while in sport mode. To a charge. It's a great scooter fir the price.
Light and cheap.
Should I just go with the Chinese ones since I won't be traveling as far?
